Chena and Jamaal really wanted their wedding to be an intimate celebration with family and closest friends, so a front sea view villa wedding in the quiet town of Puerto Aventuras, (just south of Playa del Carmen, Mexico) was a perfect choice.
The couple is from Carencro, Louisiana and met in Junior school but did not begin dating until almost 20 years after they met. They dated for three years when decided that the wait was over, they were meant to be together and it was time to get married.

Riviera Maya Haciendas' beautiful garden area was the perfect place for their intimate wedding ceremony. The venue is so beautiful and unique that just touches of greenery and gold details were enough to dress the place for the occasion.
The couple's inspiration behind our day was “Whatever you do, be different...stand out from crowd...and embrace it.” They did just that.
The couple wanted to have a different kind of wedding, they asked the guests to wear white outfits, because they had something special in mind, they along with the flower girl were going to be dressed in elegant black, and none of the guests knew about this, and they were surprised!!
Chena & Jamaal genuinely wanted their guests to experience love, family, and friendship, and they could not be happier with how everything turned out. Their wedding day absolutely perfect!! The most memorable part of our wedding was the blending of two families into one; it was the most gratifying feeling.

Chena walked down the aisle in true fashion! She looked stunning wearing Chiara Boni La Petite Robe (Black one shoulder Peplum Gown), rocking red lips, a birdcage veil with the help of Doranna Hair Stylist, and a bouquet by Cherry Blossom Floral Designs. Her fine groom also rocked a black suit with white buttonhole that matched her shade of bouquet.
They added final personal touches and had custom made maracas on every seat at the ceremony for everyone to shake at the kiss. They were hand painted with LOVE letters and had the couple's names and wedding date on them.
A mariachi was ready after the ceremony to entertain the guests during cocktail hour while we enjoyed Mexican canapés consisting of Mixed Empanadas, Chipotle Pork Skewers, Shrimp Cocktail Mexican-style and margaritas, of course.
A special moment happened during the cocktail hour, the women at the wedding did a circle and invited the bride to the center, then they serenade the bide with The Sweetheart Song; sung by her Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority song.
The bride shares her favorite quote-
“The most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you, you love, well that’s just fabulous”. —Carrie Bradshaw
