Dress: custom design by Alice Padrul Shoes: James Ciccotti Florals: Botanicals Venue: The Modern Wing of the Art Institute Band: Dick Judson Orchestra
We were honored and excited to be the first Chicago based wedding photographers to shoot a wedding at the Art Institute's of Chicago brand-new Modern Wing. Renzo Piano designed a photographer's dream. Though he is perhaps most famous for his design of the Centre Pompidou in Paris (which I've also shot at), I find the AIC's Modern Wing to be far more compelling. The light, the beautiful geometry, fascinating sight lines, and amazing views - all come together to make the Modern Wing our new favorite wedding venue in Chicago (as far wedding photography goes). Being artists ourselves, it was a real treat to shoot among famous pieces of art in the Art Institute's Collection.
Now enough about the architecture at the Modern Wing, what made the wedding even cooler was working with Greg and Joan. We were struck by their sincerity, kindness, understated elegance, and no-nonsense approach. Joan knew exactly what she wanted but at the same time trusted us and gave us the freedom to shoot in such a way that we could deliver the best possible wedding photographs for her. She did the same with Alice Padrul who custom-designed her wedding dress, creating a piece that fit her style and vision perfectly. We've always liked Alice Padrul's designs (check out the fashion shoot we did featuring her designs in Italy) and we were once again very impressed.
Ok, There is a lot more I could say, but I can't wait to show you these pictures, so here are some of our favorites:
