When it came to planning her elegant South Carolina nuptials, bride Becca envisioned a garden-inspired soiree filled with flowers galore for her wedding day. Inspired by a chinoiserie-esque wall paper and a set of plates at her grandmother's house, she wanted a design filled with patterns and colors that felt fun yet effortless. The end result? A wedding that felt like you were in an Italian garden!
"I wanted the wedding to feel romantic and lush, without feeling too over planned or ‘matchy-matchy," said Becca.

Bride Becca wore 4 different dresses on her wedding day! She wore a stunning Justin Alexander gown for her first look with Josh, but knew she wanted to surprise him with a beautiful floral print Monique Lhuillier gown at the ceremony. After the first look, Becca and Josh separated and she changed into her floral gown to take photos with her girls. And when she walked down the aisle for the ceremony, Josh was surprised to see her in a new dress!
The groom wore a custom dinner jacket from Charleston Tuxedo and a Brackish bowtie.
After the ceremony and formal photos, Becca changed again into a sheath dress by Robert Bullock for the first dance and dinner. She also wore lace gloves embroidered with "Til Death Do Us Part" and their wedding date in roman numerals. Such a cute and fun touch! Before leaving for the night, she changed into a short fringed party dress. The fashion was unbeatable at this celebration!
The pastel lemon palette of the garden venue was accentuated through Italian inspired design. Florals (including fresh pieces by Festoon) were a huge part of the decor from the "I do's" to the RSVP's. Aside from the organic bouquets and lush tablescapes, florals lined the aisle of the ceremony and were featured on some of the bridesmaid dresses. Becca's earrings featured dogwood flowers, and of course her ceremony dress was a floral print design. Her invitation suite was hand-painted by Ellen Davis and just added to the whimsical, floral theme.
Becca encouraged her bridesmaids to wear a dress of their choice, but keeping within the blue + yellow color palette. The girls looked so good together, perfectly matching the venue and florals by Festoon Charleston!
As mentioned, Becca’s dress change after the first look and before the ceremony was unique and special. Most brides let their groom see their dress during the first look, but Becca wanted to truly surprise Josh at the altar with her dream Monique Lhuillier floral print dress. “That dress was a dream come true!” she says.
"Becca and Josh met through friends at Charleston School of Law. After starting off as friends, their relationship began once Josh finally asked her out. For their first date, they went to Trattoria Lucca in Charleston and talked for nearly four hours. Becca says, "Our first date was the best I’ve ever been on”. Josh proposed after a romantic scavenger hunt that culminated in an engagement party with family and friends." - Dana Cubbage Weddings

A chic escort card display featured glasses of Aperol Spritzes with tasseled acrylic circles around the step, directed guests to their tables for dinner! All food and beverage is done on-site at the William Aiken House by PPHG (Patrick Properties Hospitality Group). Becca and Josh had two signature cocktails - the Aperol Spritz, adorned with either an edible butterfly or edible pansies on top; and a traditional Margarita. They also had a specialty drink called "The Josh" - which was a Bud Light (haha).
Florals were super important to Becca and the overall reception design by Intrigue Events was full of beautiful blooms. Whitney of Festoon knocked it out of the park, completely nailing the bride's vision for a garden-inspired celebration. “I wanted the florals to do most of the talking, and I wanted them everywhere,” said Becca. Aside from blooms everywhere, fresh lemons and dried oranges were also used throughout the design and table settings. You'll have to scroll to the end to see their matching cake!
The couple’s stunning 3-tiered wedding cake was made by PPHG's in-house pastry chef and featured colorful, dried flowers to match the garden theme.
In honor of the bride's grandmother, who inspired her entire wedding design, Becca wore her light blue cocktail ring on her right hand - a special reminder of her presence throughout the day. The Plantation Singers performed "Oh Happy Day!" as Becca and Josh recessed from their ceremony and led guests to cocktail hour beneath a sailcloth tent. They continued to perform the music of the Lowcountry - both Gullah and spiritual songs - a capella. At the end of the night, they left in her grandfather's red vintage car.
