A garden party-inspired lakeside backyard wedding in North Carolina
Who would have thought that Chloe and Royden's casual first meeting on a night out would offer them a lifetime of jet-setting together! They got engaged on a trip to Morocco where they stayed at the Royal Mansour Hotel in Marrakech. Chloe and Royden’s airy October wedding captured an elevated garden party spirit in North Carolina that was complemented by floral prints and a gentle lakeside breeze. Hosted at Royden’s parents' home in Mooresville, the couple was greatly inspired by his mother’s gardens. Custom watercolor invitations
A custom watercolor of the gardens was painted as a main feature for their invitation suites by Viri Lovely Designs. Art-forward paper goods depicted trees, shrubbery, and garden botanicals, which were highlighted on table numbers, menus, and other signage.
Florals in textures and patterns
Chloe and her bridal party got ready at the neighbor’s house, which made for a grand reveal as she descended the stone stairway for her bridal portraits. Chloe wore a jacquard ballgown by Essence of Australia with a beautiful floral pattern throughout the fabric, paired with satin platform heels and an ethereal veil with effortless moments of oversized floral applique. Chloe’s bridal party wore dusty corals and sage greens, with flowery patterned gowns that blended harmoniously with their bouquets.

A backdrop of lighting and leaves
Royden’s mother made sure to prepare for a triumphant transition into fall, taking time to mindfully plant additional flowers all over their property. The ceremony was held on the lawn, as lakeside trees created a filtered backdrop of leaves and dappled lighting. Chloe and Royden stood at their altar, created from two pillars of flowers by Springvine Design that highlighted roses, bright dahlias, and soft greenery.
A custom reception platform
To create a more elegant experience, a custom platform was built in the yard to host their reception. Guests dined beneath the sailcloth tent with a pristine view of the lake, where printed tablecloths made way for fluffy arrangements as greenery spiraled upward along wooden beams.
The reception outfit is all about the details
Several trees on the property were strung with lights as evening fell, and Chloe donned her second look — a jacquard mini dress, white sneakers with pearl details, and sparkling party earrings.
A quintessential Italian honeymoon
After their wedding, Chloe and Royden celebrated a two-week-long mini-moon in Italy. They enjoyed Vespa rides in Positano and attended their friend’s wedding on the Amalfi coast, with plans for their next destination already on the books.
