I am ready for a beach trip and wish I was heading to Hotel Xcaret in Playa del Carmen. You'll find me at the beach sipping a Caribbean cocktail and swimming in the crystalline water. I'll meet you there.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is on my list of must places to visit and is the destination for Haley and Micheal's wedding. This beach wedding was carefully crafted and designed by Mexico wedding planner, Diana Romo Weddings.
Diana created a crazy colorful Frida Kahlo inspired wedding for Haley and Micheal that is a boho, beach lover's dream come true. You'll love every last detail- from the bright florals to the mariachi band that followed them into their wedding reception.
Please keep reading, Diana shares all the details behind this Mexico destination wedding. There are so many more photos to see in the full gallery here. The Times We Have captured their day.
From: Diana Romo Weddings- When I first met Haley and her mom Lesa I knew this wedding would be extremely special.
To start with, Haley's heartwarming story about her adorable baby girl, Lennon, and the fact that they had to postpone their wedding a few times for very important reasons.
I knew this union was going to be something special. When I spoke with Haley and Lesa, we had an instant rapport. Our communication was mainly with Lesa, Haley’s mom, with whom we had great chemistry and it couldn’t have been a more joyful planning process.
We ended up choosing the stunning Hotel Xcaret Mexico as the wedding venue, and I frankly, it couldn’t have been a better choice for them.
They are both Mexican-culture lovers, which is why our inspiration was Frida Kahlo, a Mexican icon!
We coupled the great Frida together with the majestic paradise of Xcaret park and the beauty of the natural surroundings of the Riviera Maya, Mexico and we got ourselves a masterpiece!
The symbolic ceremony that had an incredible jungle/cave feeling background was preceded by Minister Christian Carballo who made us all cry a tear or two.
Haley’s dad, unfortunately passed away a few years before and a tribute was offered to him during the ceremony by adding a flower on a front-row seat. Chills, I know right!?
The wedding was very intimate, 20 people, which are my favorite to plan. One long table with all your nearest and dearest at your side...it's just heaven!
Our original plan was always to have an outdoor reception, however, the wedding was planned for mid-June, and being it's the tropics, there's always a possibility for rain.
When their wedding day came, we saw some dark clouds in the sky, but we remained hopeful and decided to forge forward with our original plan, fingers crossed. Now, we are so happy we did! We couldn’t be happier with the result.
The color palette for the wedding was full of rich vibrant colors, such as red, fuchsia, and orange. The floral design by Vanessa Jaimes was vibrant and you could see the strong Mexican influence in the tablescape.
She even added some nopales (cactus), another fundamental symbol of Mexico, and each seat had a personalized maraca as the place card.
The styling and design was the work of the wonderful Daniela Parra from Archive Rentals who made sure our vision came to life.
The menu was a live station Mexican-style cuisine menu, full of original and local flavors as only Xcaret knows how to deliver. Then, after dinner, the dance floor was open and everyone danced the night away under a star-filled gorgeous night.
This is one of the most touching and most memorable of weddings I've had the privilege to plan in my many years in this business.
