French Flower Market Wedding Inspiration In New Orleans
What You Need To Know Before You Pick Your Flowers
A historic lumber yard in Georgia sets the scene for an elegant inspiration shoot that celebrates a decade-long partnership between The Wheeler House and Miss Milly’s design team. Seeking to break away from trendy looks, they brought together a team of local vendors to curate a timeless design. Inspired by old-world European gardens and romantic escapades, they used a unique rental collection of antique pieces to transform the classic venue into a setting that whisks one away to another world.
A delicate custom monogram in a pale gray-blue popped against the cool white invitations. Each was tied with a silk ribbon that made another appearance on the big day on the escort cards. The custom menu picked up the blue color which was the perfect accent to the pastel tablescape.
The bride looked stunning in a romantic A-line gown with a modern pleated neckline. And while the dress was timeless, the off-the-shoulder detachable sleeves and the slit added a modern flare to the look. Her bridesmaids dressed the part in mix-and-match light blue dresses from Rent the Runway. BTW, genius idea to let your bridesmaids rent their dresses!
The raw, earthy textures of vintage wrought iron gates and stone urns found a soft harmony with bloom-filled wicker baskets just waiting for delivery to the flower market. Crisp white drapery (and a show-stopping gown) balanced with muted pastel flowers and lace linens, with untamed smilax vines, amaranthus, and moss adding a touch of wild to the elegance. Blooms came from around the world to create a dreamy mix of colors and textures, including blush butterfly ranunculus, white hellebores, blue delphinium, chocolate Lisianthus, blush sweet pea, Italian ruscus, hydrangeas, tulips, and more.
We've seen our share of tented receptions, but we love how this team decided to drape the ceremony in this breezy fabric too.
For the reception, there was a long farm-style table in the center flanked by several round tables. Peach and ivory tapered candles and a floral garland lined the center table and the round tables were topped off with generous pastel floral arrangements.
The event culminated in a vintage-inspired, three-tier cake with an abundance of icing ruffles, paired with a sparkling tower of champagne and celebration.
