Italian wedding weekend with an abba-themed welcome party
When this couple decided on a wedding in Florence, they wanted to make sure that their guests got to do it right and see everything that makes this destination so magical. They started off with a bang right out the gate with an Abba-themed welcome party. Together with their family and friends, they explored the city clad in 70s-inspired sequin and linen ensembles ala Mama Mia. How did their guests know what to wear you might ask? They had examples hand-painted onto the dress code card in their invitations!!! And yes, thanks to Elisabetta Riccio Weddings, there are plenty of pictures. Do we even need to say more? their love story
Honor and Cedrik met on Bumble and their first date lasted 7 hours! It was an immediate connection, and they couldn't stop talking. A few months into their relationship COVID came and this allowed them to spend tons of time together. They share a love of traveling and it was during a trip in Florence that they instantly fell in love with Villa Palmieri, which they chose for their wedding venue.
the invitations
We literally can't stop staring at these hand-crafted invitations by Progetti di Nozze. From the iconic classic art envelope liner and custom-cut invitations (in the shape of the venue) to the fashion illustrations on the dress code card, this invitation suite is the gift that keeps on giving!
an abba themed welcome party
Their wedding was a two-day celebration. On the first day, after a little stroll around Florence and a boat tour on the Arno, the couple joined their guests at the historical Societa' dei Canottieri, for their welcome event. The theme was Italian Summer/Abba–where glitter and linen were a must for their guests.
getting ready
Joined by her bridesmaids, Honor lounged in the bridal suite in matching printed pajamas. Whether it's the lighting, the historic backdrop, or the combo, these photos are giving "Unexpected Renaissance". Cedric donned a classic black tuxedo for the garden ceremony.
The bride wore a white silk dress with a lace veil during the ceremony and then changed into a short silk dress for the party.
keeping it simple
For their wedding day, they chose a more classic and elegant style, black tie attire. The ceremony set-up by Stiatti Fiori was simple and natural, in shades of white and yellow, designed to blend in with the tree-lined path where it took place.
a classic reception with a splash of citrus
Nothing says Italy like the smell of fresh lemons in the air, so we love how Your Wedding in Florence worked them into the centerpieces. Yellow and white floral arrangements carried the color palette from the ceremony over into the reception space and they popped beautifully against the white linens and the green backdrop of the Italian countryside.
