Despite the unexpected appearance of rain on their October wedding day, Elyssa and Matt didn't let weather spoil their spirits or the festivities on their special day! Instead, they moved the ceremony indoors to their reception area.
Elyssa and Matt's fun personalities were clearly present with tons of vintage decor and DIY embellishments in shades of light blue, mint and orange that decorated this rustic wedding from start to finish. Vibrant wedding bouquets, created by the Mother of the Groom, added even more hues to this already colorful wedding!

From Celebrate Again:
Elyssa and Matt choose a very gorgeous venue, the Washington Park Boat House which completely fit their vintage style wedding since it was built in 1913. Every detail Elyssa and Matt choose just went so well together! Almost all of the decor was DIY and just goes to show that you can have an absolutely beautiful wedding on a reasonable budget.
Elyssa wore teal polka-dot socks with boots, had a blue cufflink as her something blue & something borrowed as it was her grandfather's, and then had a beautiful flower piece on her head. Matt was wearing a very handsome brown suit. He was also wearing an old watch and and a teal bow tie. All of the guys had socks that reflected their relationship with the groom. You won't find a florist listed on their vendor list because the mother of the groom bought a collection of wild flowers and arranged them for the wedding. The brides ring was opal and gold with the grooms matching gold ring. I also loved how the bride used doilies to write a note with the gifts she gave to important people on the wedding day. The bridesmaid's gifts were brooches for their hair.
From the Bride:I am so very excited to share our experience with others. To be quite honest, I would have created a back up plan as far as weather goes. Family warned us that the weather could be rainy, but I insisted that it would "never happen on OUR wedding day." Alas, it rained, and my wonderful husband Matt and all of the groomsmen moved every bit of ceremony into the reception hall minutes before the ceremony actually began!
If I could provide any advice to brides it would be to stay true to thy self and to not focus too much on a "Pinterest" wedding. I tried to make every detail perfect and when the day came things were forgotten (napkins, communion, weather, etc.) When we look back on our special day the imperfections of decorations and weather do not matter! Marrying my best friend on a rainy day in October was the greatest gift and the most remarkable representation of life together.
More From Searching for the Light Photography, LLC:Some of my favorite touches were their colors, which were mint green, light blue and orange. These colors totally went so well with the pumpkins, arrows and wildflowers that surrounded their decor. Some neat ideas they had included a door with the seating chart, and the pumpkins as the table numbers. The wood sign for location of all the events was hand painted by the couple and included the theme based arrows next to their initials. Their guest book was a drawing a friend made for them that they had guest sign, but to display that they had this as a guest book the wrote on an old vinyl record.
When I was asking Elyssa of all the details of her wedding day she mentioned that they would have a lot of pumpkins and arrows. That combination together got me so excited, so I told her that is such a cute idea! She then replied that she got the idea from the logo I design them for their invitation! I was excited to see the actual logo incorporated in the wedding favors and sign.
My personal favorite of their whole day was the grilled cheese truck, which was absolutely delicious. They also had whoopee pies instead of cake that were delectable.
Our final breakdown was under $10,000. At first we planned to elope due to a very small budget, but my grandparents offered to help financially, so we decided to keep things simple. Our officiant was a family friend, flowers were bought at the Boulder farmers market the day before and assembled by bridesmaids at the rehearsal dinner, ALL decorations were DIY and our guestbook was created by our dear friend. We were so blessed to have our family and friends dedicate time and effort to the details of our wedding. Being a school teacher, I rarely found time to create things on my own, so Saturdays and Sundays spent crafting with close friends were essential! We are lucky to be surrounded by creative friends and family members who were willing t dedicate time to our day.
