I’m also very into fashion so the dress and shoes were very important to me. I knew I would need to design my own gown since I’m very short and have a very specific sense of style.
My inspiration for the gown came from my love for ballet and ball gowns. I’ve always loved ballet and the tutus so I wanted to have some light tutu like ruffles with a touch of French lace
I always envisioned my wedding being very elegant and luxurious with a bit of a royal feel to it. As a wedding photographer I often times watched brides rush down the aisle because they were so nervous. Thus, I wanted a long aisle to walk down on so that i would have time to calm down, soak in the moment, and really remember it since I feel like its such a special moment.
Because our ceremony was as the outside Ringling Museum of Art we wanted to make sure the color palette of the floral arrangements complemented the colors of the museum. We decide to add some jewel tones to the pink to the flowers with eucalyptus.
I wanted to continue the luxurious royal theme through to the reception. We used gold sequined tablecloth for the sweetheart and cake tables. Also used vintage gold flatware, personalize (bride & groom)champagne glasses with DIY gold tassels.
Dress To Impress:
My gown was one of the most important pieces of the wedding so I designed it myself. I tried on over 20+ gowns and didn’t really have a bridal “WOW” moment. I decided to design my own gown and fly to Ukraine and have an experienced seamstress that I trust sew it.
My inspiration for the gown came from my love for ballet and ball gowns. I’ve always loved ballet and the tutus so I wanted to have some light tutu like ruffles with a touch of French lace, finished off with some round and pear shaped Swarovski crystals on the corset. I was also adamant on showing off some of the French lace on the back of the corset because there was so much beautiful detail.
Along with the gown I had a custom veil made. It is about 4 ft. longer than a tradition cathedral veil and it has lace (same lace as on the gown) on the end. I chose the embellished Mischka Badgley heels to match the crystals on the corset of my gown. My hairpiece and earrings were embellish¬ed with pear shaped stones (crystals & diamonds) to complement my custom made pear shaped diamond engagement ring.
