their love story
Sydney Hathaway and Trent Pernell attended University on sports scholarships in the small town of Grand Junction, Colorado. Trent was originally from Las Vegas, Nevada USA and Sydney was from Salt Lake City, Utah. Sydney attended a lacrosse game with her friends and Trent noticed her in the stands. Too nervous to go up to Sydney after his game, Trent discovered who she was and was able to get her contact information through her soccer team. They talked over the phone for a few months to get to know each other before Trent finally got the courage to ask Sydney out on their first date on Valentine’s Day. Fast forward a year, Sydney graduated and Trent was finishing his last year. The couple had a long-distance relationship for two years. The years were filled with long phone calls, trips to see each other every few months, and lots of missing each other. But, on their 3-year anniversary, Trent proposed to Sydney on the beach in San Clemente, California USA.
an italian destination
It was then the two decided that they wanted to do a destination wedding. Sydney had always dreamed of having her wedding in Italy. Trent had family from Italy, so it was the perfect place to go! They wanted a beautiful warm wedding spot, and what better place than Sicily? The couple instantly fell in love with the idea and immediately got to planning. However, being from the United States they didn’t know where to start. As if the heavens sent her, Sydney stumbled across Anna Vlasiuk’s photography page with the most stunning wedding photos Sydney had ever seen. She immediately reached out to Anna who lovingly gave the best suggestions for locations and wedding help. She had expressed the beauty of Scopello and the couple fell in love! With the help of Sicilian Wedding Lab, they chose a villa next to the ocean that was big enough for their wedding ceremony.
getting ready
Swathed feather-trimmed satin and lace the ladies prepped for the big day in the glowing bridal suite. Sydney went with a natural makeup look and her hair down in windswept waves.
the fashion
Just because you're eloping or having a micro-wedding, that doesn't mean that you can't still go all-in on your wedding ensembles. Sydney rocked an elegant lace and tulle mermaid dress with off-the-shoulder details and Trent opted for a black suit and matching black bowtie. Pulling in the pastels from the florals, Sydney's bridesmaids wore shades of peach and sage green.
the flowers
The ceremony was everything they could’ve expected and more with the amazing help of Alfie Cannavo’ of Alfio Flowers and his team whose beautiful floral arrangements framed them during the ceremony.
