From the Bride:My mother, Dayna, had been in the floral industry for over twenty years, so we decided to put all our faith in her vision for this, her only daughter’s wedding day. We were asked for basic decisions such as what flowers not to incorporate and how the bridal bouquet should look. While most brides would never relinquish such power, we wanted to be surprised. Dayna and Yasmin at Floral Theory put their brilliant minds together to mesh a Texas floral designer’s vision with a modern Northern Californian twist.
The bridal bouquet contained all of the my favorite white flowers, tulips, calla lilies, peonies, hydrangea, to name a few. Benjamin’s corsage was simple yet sophisticated with single stalks of lavender and a white calla lily. My bridesmaids carried bouquets with light pinks, yellows and whites, groomsmen wore corsages similar to the groom but with only one stalk of lavender. We wanted to use flowers that were in season and native to California to give everyone the authentic experience of a West Coast wedding.
The most memorable moment of our wedding was having Paxton, our beloved canine companion, in the ceremony. Shortly after we started dating, I adopted Pax, a German Shepherd and Australian Shepherd mix from a rescue group in Austin. Paxton’s sweet face and relaxed disposition made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Benjamin remembers Pax during the ceremony, in his matching leash and bow tie. “It really felt like our whole family was there,” Benjamin said.Meticulous chalkboard signage directed Katherine and Benjamin's guests from one area to the next. The floral arrangements throughout the wedding were created by Floral Theory using local flowers that were in season. Blooming wisteria and lavender were combined with peonies, roses and hydrangeas to create breathtaking displays that reflected the romance of the vineyard setting perfectly.
Guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails in the South Pavilion at The Vintage Estate Villagio Inn & Spa before moving to the East Pavilion for dinner. Beverages included tea and lemonade as well as a signature cocktail, wine and bottles of beer which were served out of an old wine barrel that was converted into a drink cooler - how cool is that?!
With only ten months to plan, we had to make great use of the few and far between weekends and conference calls with our talented wedding planner, Simone Lennon. I even had Perfect Endings, who designed our cake, send samples of designs and flavours to Benjamin for him to try. In fact, Benjamin had never been to Yountville until the week of our wedding! Our absolute favorite part of this wedding is the stunning floral arrangements created by Floral Theory! From the beautiful bouquets to the cascading ceremony flowers to the centerpieces at the reception the flowers in this wedding are simply breathtaking!
Each of the guests had beautiful pashminas placed on the back of the chairs to take home.
Our venue, Vintage Estate, was simply awe inspiring. Who could forget the floating gardenias in the fountain where we had our first meal as husband and wife?
