Amy and Justin’s boho black-tie wedding is totally going to surprise you with its unique style and strong color palette. The bride chose fresh citrus orange paired with indigo and gold undertones to style their big day. Magnolia Event Design and Planning helped transform her vision into reality, and we’re totally loving the fresh look and feel throughout.
With the sound of waves crashing in the background, their oceanside dinner on the terrace of La Pacifica is a total dream with family-style tables under a canopy of lights. Swoon! From Magnolia Event Design and Planning: Lindsey Amy and Justin’s wedding was an elegant boho dream. When I first met Amy and Justin they had a few ideas about what their venue had to include but didn’t know where to have their wedding. Their list included ocean views and manicured gardens. After looking at quite a few venues we decided on Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for their ceremony, followed by a two hour cocktail hour in the lush gardens of The Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara followed by an oceanside dinner on the terrace of La Pacifica and then an evening of dancing to the wee hours of morning in La Pacifica Ballroom. Each place needed to feel unique but cohesive. Each experience building off the last…
The bride and I originally talked about having a strong, but unique color palette and something that isn't often done or seen too much. She loved the colors- orange, navy as well as "cork with gold". When we went down the orange/citrus road- we didn't want it to be too in your face, but rather organic and really a cheerful/playful tone to represent the personalities of the couple. We looked at poppies and kumquats to provide just that and I showed the bride an image of strands of rich orange marigolds and it was set! It all needed to seem relaxed, organic and playful, but still formal enough for a black tie affair.
The event was grounded with a cork-like undertone, which we used in the linens- so they acted as a neutral base to everything else we were layering on top and above. The overall feel became chic and yet collected. We used salt lamps the lounges to pull out another tone of orange and grounded all of the orange with Moroccan blankets, indigo dyed fabrics and fabrics I collected while in Bali.
Dinner was under a wooden structure that held both market lights, green vines and chandeliers made of oranges. As the guests dined they listened to toasts from Amy & Justin’s loved ones and enjoyed the sounds of the waves crashing right next to them. Once dinner was finished guests entered the ballroom to discover That Vibe the band kicking off the night. The dance floor was surrounded by lounge vignettes- the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail and get ready to dance the night away.
