Don’t Wear White To A Wedding–This Couple Would Disagree
There is an age-old rule about weddings–you don't wear white (unless you're the one getting married, of course!). But you know what they say, rules were made for breaking, and that's exactly what this couple did at their modern Miami wedding. When they decided on a neutral color scheme with a focus on white, they made the ever-divisive decision to have the bridesmaids wear WHITE! With eight bridesmaids plus the bride, that makes nine ladies in white walking down the aisle–and you know what? We're all for it! What really makes this work is the differences in the dresses. The bridesmaids wore elegant crepe dresses with sexy V-necklines (fitting for their hot tropical venue) while the bride wore a romantic strapless lace gown with a similar silhouette but added some drama with a sweeping train. If you do decide to go with a monochromatic look for you and your bridal party, make sure that you still save a little something for yourself, like a fun texture, an unexpected neckline, or a dramatic silhouette. Nothing says confidence like a bride who knows she's going to shine no matter what her bridesmaids are wearing!
Katie Lopez Photography captured this beautiful Miami wedding. Events By Elle planned every detail and made sure this couple's big day ran smoothly and that their vision was perfectly executed. Petal Productions created all of the amazing florals and Miami Wedding Cinema filmed this special day at The Miami Beach Edition. You can see all the images in the full gallery. BOOKING A VENUE SIGHT UNSEEN
Chris and I spent quite a bit of time vacationing, in his home state of Florida, before ever getting engaged–Miami in particular. When it came time to pick a wedding location it was a no-brainer. Between the year-round warm climate and the energetic, hip Miami scene we knew that this would be the best place to celebrate with our loved ones who enjoy a good time almost as much as we do.
We booked our venue sight unseen in fear of losing the date to another couple. After visiting The Miami Beach Edition, we knew we made a good decision. The lobby of The Edition beautifully captures the chic, tropical vibe that defines Miami to us. We carried this aesthetic throughout our ceremony and reception from the simple, clean white bridesmaid dresses to the tropical flora peppered throughout our cocktail hour.
SOME LOCAL FLARE
Many of our friends and family had never been to Miami, so it was important for us to have aspects of our wedding that were quintessentially Miami–from the cigar rollers, shellfish tower, and ice sculpture at our cocktail hour to the Latin inspired music at our reception topped off with the grand finale, hora loca.
All in all, the most important thing for the two of us was to make sure that we and all of our guests had the most amazing time at our wedding not just on the day, but throughout the whole weekend. And now, almost a year later, we still find ourselves reminiscing with them about how much fun everyone had. We simply couldn't have done it without the best host–the beautiful and vibrant Miami, Florida.
