From the Bride

I’m a graphic designer and my husband Evan (yay I can call him my husband now!) is a design engineer, so we went into this whole wedding thing knowing we would DIY as much as possible. It was a ton of work, but it was awesome.

The ceremony was one of my favorite parts of the whole day. Our processional was a string quartet version of “Don’t Stop Believing,” we wrote our own vows, and I’m told there was not a dry eye in sight (I was so absorbed in the moment I didn’t even realize anyone was crying!).

I had a blast designing everything from program fans with illustrations of our bridal party to a thumbprint guestbook featuring our kitty to our infographic-style wedding website. Evan built a wooden photo booth, a giant paper lantern chandelier, and large wooden string and nail letters we hung at the entrance. I hand dyed yards upon yards of fabric for our backdrop, spray painted a hundred bottles for centerpieces, created chalkboard dessert labels, and made cute heart straws. Our favorite DIY project though was the huge LOVE marquee letters. They were a labor of love, but turned out so perfect!

Words from the Vendors

From The Bird & The Bear:

Evan and Katelyn are such adorable, vibrant, creative people! Instead of a traditional large cake, they went with a big array of sweet treats made by family members. Of course, they had one small cake topped with Toki Doki figurines - truly showing off their unique and quirky aesthetic.

From the Bride

Our reception was a blast, the photo booth was a HUGE success, the music was awesome, and our food was ah-may-zing. It was so great to squeeze so much love and laughter into one day. Our family and friends are the best and we had such a good time with everybody. Our vendors were all awesome and pulled everything together. Our photographers, Caryn and Bryan, captured everything so beautifully. My only complaint is that it all went by too fast! I might be biased, but our wedding was definitely my favorite wedding ever.
