We are both huge animal lovers, believe it or not Amy actually has 3 dogs (Italian Greyhounds) and 2 cats (both rescue cats). Jocey only has a small Jack Russell, but Lola is 3 dogs in one. So, obviously we loved that Allison and Blakley incorporated their two dogs into their wedding stationery/family crest, used throughout their DIY southern backyard wedding. Their Golden Retriever looks so handsome in his bow tie, you can buy a similar one in our store by clicking here.
The entire event was designed and organized by the bide and groom and held at their historic family home in North Alabama. They wanted to really focus on all things vintage, heirloom and important them, like bluegrass music, their dogs, family and each other. See more vintage inspired wedding details in the full gallery captured by Glass Jar Photography, and don't miss Allison and Blakley's wedding film at the end - it is really cute!
Focusing on family heirloom's and all things vintage, it seemed only natural that Allison wore her Grandmother's wedding gown. This style of dress was very popular in the 1940's and more than likely originally had sleeves. Removing the sleeves brought he dress up to date, but still has that vintage flair. Such a great idea, if you were thinking about going vintage, but could not stand to wear a dress with long poofy sleeves.
To keep with the vintage them, as guests arrived a rustic looking table had wedding fans, attached were tags with their wedding crest on them. There was also an antique fountain pen to sign the guest book.
Nothing sets the vibe for a backyard wedding with a vintage feel like family heirlooms, blue-grass music, and home made reception tables made from old doors. How incredible is that? If you are interested in doing something like that for your backyard wedding, there is a you tube video on how to make a door into a table.
Their vintage-inspired wedding hankies were used throughout their wedding decor. You can see them in the groom's pocket, framed at the entrance and scattered thorough the reception. These were done by the bride and groom, but you can findl vintage-inspired wedding hanky invites in our store here.
Allison and Blakley are both huge Blue Grass fans! In the film below it's pretty darn cute how she mentions checking out his facebook profile to find that he too was a Blue Grass fan and her heart skipped a beat. Plus you can see more their vintage wedding decor and hard work.
Here's the Super8mm version of their day, also filmed by Glass Jar Photography. You will love it.
