the inspo: dia de los muertos
For this photoshoot, we drew inspiration from the simple beauty of Puerto Peñasco’s unspoiled beaches, where the desert dramatically meets the Sea of Cortez. As Arizona natives, Puerto Peñasco (aka Rocky Point) is our closest beach so we grew up vacationing here and it's amazing to be able to showcase this town as a destination for modern weddings. Our color inspiration came from the vibrant marigold which is used during the Mexican holiday of Dia de los Muertos. We wanted to show it in a modern way and combine it with rich tropical florals and pops of burgundy and peach.
the perfect venue on Airbnb
For the venue, we selected Laguna Shores, an Airbnb that perfectly mirrored our vision with its impeccable modern details. The Moroccan-inspired door served as a stunning focal point, set against a backdrop of pristine white walls and elegant arches. Nestled amid the serene white sand desert steps from the ocean, this space offered a seamless blend of contemporary sophistication and natural beauty, providing an ideal setting for capturing our concept.
For the florals and decor, Bloom Maven embraced the vibrant essence of Mexico, we were inspired by the rich, symbolic florals traditionally used during Día de los Muertos. We combined the rich marigolds with tropical greenery and pops of burgundy to give it a modern look. Our venue's modern white walls and natural wood and stone elements created the perfect canvas to add that pop of color.
getting ready
As she prepared for the big day, the bride wore a seafoam green one-piece by Vitamin A. The stunning color perfectly complements the subtle greens of the Sonoran Desert and the ocean just beyond the horizon, beautifully capturing both earthy and oceanic vibes.
the looks
We chose a dress with an elegant fitted silhouette from Gigi Bridal by Pronovias. This satin dress offers a timeless, refined, and minimalist look that pairs perfectly with the desert coastal terrain in Puerto Peñasco. For the suit, we went with a soft blush suit from ASOS. This delicate shade of pink evokes a gentle, understated elegance. The soft blush suit contrasts subtly with the Sonoran Desert’s rich palette of sandy beiges, terracotta, and muted greens, creating a harmonious and sophisticated look.
a desert bar
It wouldn't be a Mexican-inspired wedding without some good drinks! And if there's one takeaway from this chic bar setup, it's how good glass rentals can really add to the overall vibe.
the cake
When it comes to wedding cakes, and even wedding photos, perfection is out and curated chaos reigns supreme. From buttercream-frosted cakes to half-eaten slices and lipstick-stained coupe glasses it's all about capturing what it was really like in the moment.
