Nick and Brooke met when they were both freshman at the University of Arizona and lived in the same dorm oftentimes (conveniently) ended up in the laundry room together. Even though they didn't begin dating then, they had mutual friends who kept trying to plant the seed that they should. One New Year's Eve, Nick drove from Michigan to Chicago (where Brooke was) and the rest, as they say, was history! Keep scrolling to see how this wedding day at Bay Pointe Weddings, 10 years in the making, came together with the help of Valley and Oak Events, all captured by Che Bella Photography and Killer Creations Weddings.
Nick and Brooke's goal for the wedding was a "weekend getaway on the lake" that was relaxing and all-inclusive. They wanted it to be a breath of fresh air where guests could enjoy a truly peaceful weekend away.
The couple wanted the wedding party to complement the environment of the venue in a timeless and upscale way that reflected the blue lake and beautiful surrounding greenery. The bridesmaids wore dusty blue Azazie dresses with soft, natural glam by LJ Artistry and Reborn Hair Company, and carried bouquets full of soft green, soft pinks, and creams. The groomsmen wore navy blue suits with black lapels and bowties from Men's Wearhouse.
The morning of the big day, the wedding party and family all gathered as one in the lake house at Bay Pointe Inn along Gun Lake. Everyone was bustling around helping put together the king's table flower arrangements Brooke's dad made while reminiscing on the Friday night welcome party festivities. The bridesmaids were ready ahead of schedule while the groomsmen were playing yard games by the lake.
Nick and Brooke were able to soak in their time together during the first look before heading over to the ceremony. During the ceremony, one of the couple's favorite parts was looking out to see all of their family and friends there to celebrate with them.

Because Brooke is a professional dancer, she was excited to share her special first dance with Nick. The best part, however, was when Brooke surprised Nick with a flash mob at the end of the dance! Most of the bridal party are also professional dancers, and they put on quite a performance. The crowd absolutely loved when Nick's groomsmen (with little dance experience) jumped on the dance floor to show off their synchronized moves. Everyone pulled Nick onto the dance floor, which resulted in one of the bride's absolute favorite pictures that was captured with everyone surrounding them.
For dessert, the bride and groom got creative since neither of them enjoy cake. Their first trip together was to Puerto Pẽnasco, and on that trip they enjoyed (way too many) churros. Because of this, they knew these would be the perfect dessert to share with their guests!
"Make it true to who you are as a couple, and don’t try to match what you see others doing around you. Think about how you want your day to resonate with your guests and what you are comfortable with to avoid added stress or feeling out of place!"
