Sloan & Rockys stylish wedding in Austin, Texas is on point with their desert chic inspired decor. With geometric shapes, potted succulents and a trendy color palette of pink and orange, their ultra stylish affair allowed guests to mingle freely with its overall laid-back vibe.
We wish we could feature every photo, but we also love surprises and we saved the best for last which you can see in the gallery here, so be sure to check out all the beautiful images taken by Sam Hugh Photography.
My inspiration was a combination of whimsy and desert chic -- think palm springs with a romantic twist, except located in Austin, Texas. I let the bridesmaids chose between a very pale clementine and a very pale pink color for the dresses, which were all floor length chiffon, and we ended up having three of each color.
The flowers matched the pink and orange color theme, apart from green succulents and cacti, and we also included a lot of brass and gold details. I wanted it to feel comfortable and welcoming, like people could wander around and get the full event experience. I loved the mix of furniture we had: a variety of vignettes, tall cocktail tables for people to stand around, short cocktail tables to sit at, and a few farmhouse tables as well.
My absolute favorite detail was the alter decor -- I had seen the geometric piece featured in other Austin weddings and it was the first thing I mentioned when I met with Sunni, from Gypsy Floral. I called it the "triangle thing", and it was basically a mix of wooden triangles stacked on top of each other with candles and flowers added to it. It was the backdrop of our ceremony, and we placed a furniture vignette in front of it during the reception so people could enjoy it all night.
I'm one to mix it up style-wise, so I knew it'd be a balance between a southern traditional, and an approachable, laid-back vibe. I also always knew I wanted to have a venue that was a mix of indoors and outdoors, and that I didn't want to have a seated dinner -- I loved the idea that people could mix and mingle, and not be stuck with the same group for the entire meal
My advice would be to think the most about the vibe you want to have at your wedding, because that's really what you'll remember most. I kept that in mind throughout the entire process, and I think it helped in picking out the details, and planning the order of events. The one thing I really wanted to splurge on was the flowers and event design. The Allan House is a beautiful backdrop, but also leaves a lot of room for personal touches. Gypsy Floral did a great job with all of the flowers, furniture rentals, and lots of other details. Once I booked them, I based other purchasing decisions on how much was left in my budget, and it all worked out!
