Delightfully Fun San Francisco City Hall Wedding

Bride and groom pose on grand San Francisco City Hall staircase

Kathy and Nixon met in Vegas. Nixon was living in Singapore at the time and was in Vegas for a bachelor party and Kathy was in Vegas for a bachelorette party (she is a Bay Area native). They met at a club and danced the night away. A couple of days later, Nixon’s flight home was cancelled and postponed, so he decided to extend his trip longer and flew up to San Francisco to meet Kathy.

Lacey Michelle Photography was there to capture all the fun details, Amor in Motion to film which you'll see a little later, and Two Perfect Events  planned every detail.. You can see all the images in the full gallery and be sure to keep reading to learn more about this San Francisco City Hall wedding from Leah of Two Perfect Events.

The Wedding Dress

Picking out her Enzoani Mercedes gown wasn’t easy (it was almost painful). She went to almost 10 bridal stores in the Bay Area before she found the one. It was the perfect combination: classic with a bit of drama. What stood out to her was the gorgeous cathedral train and the surprise rhinestone low back.

LONG DISTANCE FOR 7 MONTHS

They went on their first proper date at Coqueta and spent the rest of the week together (bonding over the Golden State Warriors and their love of food) before Nixon flew back home. 3 weeks later, and after many hours on the phone and Facetime, Nixon flew back to San Francisco to visit again. They did long distance for another 7 months before Nixon proposed and then relocated to SF. Nixon grew up in Australia and all of his friends and family were flying in for the wedding.

The Bouquet

The bouquet by Fleur et Co included roses, ranunculus, hydrangeas, peonies, anemones, and greenery. The tablescape vibe was "glamorous" with gold accents, to reflect the Neoclassic architecture of the venue. For the ceremony, Kathy & Nixon married under the gorgeous Beaux-Arts dome of City Hall with live guitar music from Tammy Byerly.

CITY HALL WEDDING

Kathy & Nixon chose to get married in two of the top historic spots in San Francisco - San Francisco City Hall and Bently Reserve. They selected these locations because they wanted it to be a cultural experience for those traveling from afar as Nixon is from Australia.

There isn't much in Australia that compares to the San Francisco City Hall, which they both consider one of the most beautiful buildings in the state. The gorgeous Beaux-Arts architecture of city hall set the stage for a grand experience while Kathy's dress and florals, designed by Fleur et Co, pulled in all of the romantic feels. Their wedding is the epitome of all things classic and timeless. They also made sure to incorporate fun parts of their personalities - a rosé bar, beer pong table, and shot glass favors with their combined name hashtag "KleeNix."

Fun, Classic and Stylish Wedding

Kathy & Nixon prioritized 3 things for their wedding: authenticity, food, and party. They decided they wanted a fun, classic, and stylish affair that was also a cultural experience especially since many guests would be traveling very far for the wedding.

sprinkling in their personalities

They sprinkled their personalities into the wedding with pictures from when they were kids, custom dessert table with desserts inspired from Australia, Singapore, and America (to represent all the places that make up a part of who they are), an America/Australia beer pong table, and customized shot glasses (#kleenixmoment). Kathy's signature drink was "The Voddy Sodes" (vodka, soda water, lime) and Nixon's signature drink was "Toki Highball" (toki, soda water, lemon).

For food, they wanted to pay respects to both of their Asian cultures by serving Chinese (Kathy) and Vietnamese (Nixon) fusion family-style food and of course they needed to make sure their guests had MORE than enough to eat.

Meticulous about All the details

They were meticulous about what drinks and alcohol to serve, what music to play, and even how to do the reception layout to promote dancing and mingling. Nixon also hired onsite babysitters  for his friends and family who had kids so they could take a few hours off to have fun. In order to put this all together, they worked with the Two Perfect Events team to help with planning all the details and to make sure everything was coordinated and the night went off without a hitch!

This wedding had beauty and delights at every turn throughout the day and provides lots of inspiration for those looking to have a classic and romantic wedding in San Francisco!

Traditional Tea Ceremony

Kathy and Nixon also chose to honor their cultures by wearing traditional Chinese wedding outfits and doing a traditional tea ceremony as an expression of their gratitude and respect to their families.
