Rustic Chic Dairy Farm Wedding: Lace, Pearls, and Cowboy Boots!

Happy couple on their wedding day smiling and looking at camera

This beautiful country meets elegant wedding was born from the bride's love of lace and pearls and her desire to incorporate that along with barn wood and rustic handmade decor for the perfect wedding look.
The wedding took place at a venue near and dear to their hearts, their family dairy farm outside of Leduc, AB. The rugged edge of rustic got softened with ribbons and lace to produce a phenomenal result. See for yourself in the full gallery here, captured by Milton Photography.

cowboy boots for the ladies!

Growing up on a dairy farm just outside Leduc Alberta I practically lived in my cowboy boots on my horse, so naturally I needed to wear them under my dress on my wedding day. For the outdoor wedding ceremony I wanted it to scream romance. From the aisle lined with hundreds of white silk flower petals, to the elaborate handmade birch bark wedding arch complete with handpicked silk florals, to the acoustic ukelele player & soloist, cousins of the bride. Flower petals were thrown as the bride and groom kissed and made there way back from the aisle as Mr. & Mrs. I wanted pastels for the flowers, soft elegant colors, pearl accents, simple classic dresses for the bridesmaids of course cowboy boots!

diy dance floor

All my ideas my dad and I came up with on our own. We put many hours sanding, designing, and perfecting our crafts. The wedding took 3 days to set up and two to tear down. The tulle, lights and chandeliers were the most time consuming but, were that beautiful elegant touch I was hoping for. The groom and his father also handmade our own 20X40ft dance floor for the tented wedding reception out of 2x6's and 3/4inch tongue and groove plywood. The thank you gifts were a small burlap sachet with "Love is sweet" stamped on them with M&M's inside for the bride and grooms initials Matt & Melissa.

family heirloom getaway car

Our getaway car was a 35' Ford in Periwinkle Blue, restored by the groom and his Father, a treasured family memory. Our wedding featured many guest from around the globe including those from Australia, Holland, and even a country celebrity guest Brett Kissel from Nashville Tennessee who sang a few tunes for the bride and groom. The brides brother and maid of honor song the couples fist dance song "A thousand years by Christian Perri" this was a very special moment for the bride and groom. The groom even surprised the bride with a song he had wrote called "I'll be there for you", he played this for her acoustically on his guitar. Everyone seemed to kick off their boots and enjoy this down home country wedding!See the day play out in the wonderful video below, filmed by Adam Hlavka.
