Every year Jessica's Country Flowers hosts a deserving couple contest. Where we look for couples who are in financial hardship, yet give back much of their time and energy to community service. It's our little way of giving back since, being wedding floral designers we do not have much time to do community service. We feel that we have been so very fortunate in business this is something we can do to give back to someone in need.
August 29, 2009 was the day Amanda married Matthew. What a wonderful day! Even with a little rain, nothing could spoil the love and passion shared between this couple and their special day. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of green/white lady slipper orchids, deep purple mini calla lilies, purple sweet peas and wrapped with a sequin covered chocolate color ribbon. The bride had recently lost her job at White Flower Farm (of nearly 13 years) as well as the father of the groom and the bride. Wedding funds were slim, yet they were still planning a simple wedding for a guest list of approximately 180 and went on missionary tours around the world every year.
The "tree" we created for their place card table was really a conversation piece. With lavender cymbidium orchids and 'cool water' roses cascading down the trunk of the "tree". With mainly birch branches and then a touch of curly willow branches it gave us tremendous height and that added branching-out we needed with the curly willow. Just simply stunning detail with hand cut paper leaves which were delicately created by Jubilee Events. They were hung with a simple inexpensive delicate ribbon so guests could easily take them off the "tree". People enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while locating their paper leaf escort card.
Gorgeous wooden crates lined with moss and overflowing of nearly 60 'cool water' and 'super green' roses, mini green hydrangea and deep purple dahlias looked stunning on the plaid linens. Their wedding favors of pure maple candies were wrapped with a lavender ribbon and a little tag that the bride had made with the couple's names and date. We placed those nicely on each napkin.
There were a fabulous group of incredibly talented wedding professionals who came together to throw one amazing 2009 deserving couple wedding! All of the vendors donated their time, efforts, products and service to this very deserving couple.
