Relaxing and beautiful

From the bride: Our vision for our wedding day was to make something casual and fun with natural beauty. We knew we wanted to have an outdoor celebration and when we were given the opportunity to have our wedding at Matt's cousin's ranch we knew it would be the perfect spot. We wanted a wedding that didn't feel like a package deal. We were extremely lucky to find amazing vendors that helped us plan the wedding of our dreams and because of this, our day was extremely relaxing.

A hint of southern tradition

Before the wedding we had read about a southern wedding tradition where the couple buries a bottle of bourbon a month before the wedding at the ceremony site and then has a sip of it after the ceremony. We also knew that we wanted to write our own vows but feared we wouldn't get through them in front of our families without tears slurring our speech. After the ceremony we took five minutes, just the two of us, to dig up our bourbon and read our vows to each other, which we had buried along with the bourbon.

For brides to be

Hire a wedding planner or a day-of-coordinator. I had always thought that we could do it on our own and that we could save that expense. To my surprise, we met with a planner that we adored within five minutes. She was helpful, had ideas of her own without being pushy, and knew the area. On the day of the wedding we were able to slow down, relax, and enjoy the day.

Celebration of love

Wedding planning can be thrilling, stressful and expensive all at the same time. Just remember why you're doing it. Throw a party that you would want to attend. At the end of the day, just remember that it's an amazing opportunity to celebrate your love and commitment with all of your favorite people. That's what matters.
