North Carolina luxury cottage core wedding in shades of neutrals
Originally from Atlanta, Elena and Will traveled with their guests to Highlands, North Carolina for a wedding in the mountains at the iconic Old Edwards Inn. Planned with the help of Mary Spera of Spera Special Events, the entire day was spent outdoors in the perfect summer breeze, starting with a ceremony under the pergola and ending with a tented reception full of classic, creamy ivory-toned details. The entire day - captured by Capturing WNC - gave Father of the Bride vibes that you'll have to scroll through and see to believe.
How to know when to change venues
Because their guest list kept growing, Elena and Will decided to change their original plan of saying "I do" in New Orleans and instead have their wedding in Highlands, North Carolina at Old Edwards Inn. Guests enjoyed perfect weather at what turned into an intimate outdoor wedding.
Wedding style: The bridal midi
Elena wore a precious A-line ankle-length midi dress that was completed with a white rose bouquet, pearl necklace, and waist length veil to match the dress's length.
A cottage core ceremony
The ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner all took place in Piermont Cottage. For the ceremony, Dream Events by Daria placed lush white floral arrangements at the end of each row down the aisle. A pre-existing arbor covered in gorgeous greenery helped create that intimate cottage core theme that the couple was looking for.

Color palette: White and neutral
The neutral and white color palette carried through the reception with light khaki linens from Professional Party Rentals, gold-rimmed plates, and linear centerpieces made up of clear vases filled with white roses. The cottage element was once again woven throughout with seating cards that featured a bee next to the guest's calligraphed name.
Rustic detail: Reception fire pit
A casual fire pit off to the side of the reception tent provided a space for small groups to step away, warm up, and hang out.
Subtle yet elegant cake design
In keeping with the white and neutral color palette, the cake by Mrs. Sugarbooger was a three-tier, all-white cake featured piped detailing.
Billy Strings-inspired bluegrass
The bride and groom love bluegrass music - particularly Billy Strings - so the band Nitrograss fit the bill perfectly. Before they took the stage, however, musician friends of the newlyweds played their first dance song in a beautifully personal and touching moment.
After the party there's the after party
The after party was held next door at The Ugly Dog Pub, where the couple and their guests were able to continue celebrating late into the night.
