Get the wedding dress you love, and love the wedding dress you get! I had originally envisioned wearing two dresses at our wedding, one ceremony dress and one reception dress, but, once I found my first dress, I loved it so much I couldn't even think about taking it off.
I definitely would not have had enough time in my wedding dress if I had worn another one throughout the night (it would have only added up to about 2.5 hours per dress). Though you will invest a lot of time and money into your wedding dress you will only be wearing it once so be sure to get the right one and enjoy looking fabulous during those precious five hours of your life!
Most importantly, remember what your wedding is all about and enjoy it! Time goes by very quickly and its easy to miss out on your own wedding if you are focused on the wrong things. It's very easy for the overwhelming amount of wedding details to drag your focus onto things like what guests want, decorations, unexpected circumstances, etc… Remember, You are paying a LOT of money to have a five hour party so grab a drink, and enjoy it! Have fun celebrating your marriage with your new spouse!
If you have any family or friends with talents or skills, use them! It was such a blast having my friends and family help out and show off their talents at my wedding. I had a "Bakery" theme for the dessert table. All of the desserts at my wedding were homemade. Including the cake. All made by my friends and family. Also, all the calligraphy was hand written by friends and family members as well. It was great for activities to share together and it totally cut costs in half!
Advice from the Bride:Stay organized! It makes your wedding day so much easier to enjoy! Organization and planning helps things go a so much smoother during the big event. If you want things set up a specific way… do a mock set up before hand with the "dessert table", "sign in table", "dinner table" etc. and take pictures of your layout to give to your event crew so that they understand what you want and will set it up the way you envisioned.
Figure out what the most important part of the wedding will be to you, and spend money where it matters for you. For me, I wanted my wedding to be a beautiful-fun party, and I wanted to capture the beautiful-fun party. So the bulk of my money was spent on flowers, and photography.
