Kali was living in Colorado but was spending time in Dallas with her family for a few months in the spring of 2020. When she was in town, a friend invited her to his ranch outside of Dallas. Kali knew this friend from Colorado and it turned out he was Hayden’s friend from the University of Texas too. That weekend at the ranch is when Kali met Hayden for the first time. They immediately connected on this trip, but Kali went back to Aspen for the summer after they met. That summer Kali was deciding between two grad schools for the fall, University of Denver or Southern Methodist University, to get her MBA. Halfway as a joke, she put two sticky notes down–one with “SMU” and one with “DU” written on it. Kali put a dog treat on each one, moved the sticky notes around her apartment, and let her dog play a game of choosing the SMU or DU treat. Every single time, her dog Minnow chose SMU. Kali knew it was a sign! That fall Kali moved to Dallas to start grad school, and Hayden asked her on their first date. Their first date for dinner ended up being an 8-hour evening together and the rest is history.

Kali was formerly a wedding planner at The Little Nell in Aspen, Colorado, and as a young child, she had a notebook that detailed what she envisioned her own wedding to be one day. While what she scribbled in her notebook at age eight didn't exactly pan out as she had imagined, what surely held true is that she loves love and weddings. Her supervisor from The Little Nell, Shawna Rockey, was her wedding planner and they were able to work seamlessly together to translate her colorful, Floridian vision into a reality. Kali and Shawna had so many ideas from seeing and being part of so many weddings over the years and knew they wanted to hone in on the beautiful, natural elements of Florida.

a sentimental venue choice

Kali and Hayden chose The Gasparilla Inn as their wedding venue as it is a vacation destination that is significant to them as a couple and to Kali's family especially. Her 94-year-old grandfather currently lives there, so it was an easy choice to be able to celebrate somewhere beautiful yet laid back, that brought the family together with no hassle.

The beautiful bride and her girls started the day with a beach walk in matching pajama sets. Later they slipped into printed floral maxi dresses in a rainbow of colors. The bride wore a stunning lace gown with oversized floral embroidery and a sweeping veil. The groom and his men looked equally enchanting in their blue tailored suits.

Ella Events Co made sure that flowers were absolutely everywhere at this colorful outdoor wedding. Low, whimsical arrangements lined the aisle and led up to a stunning asymmetrical floral arbor for the ceremony. For the reception, arrangements in wicker vases and stunning garlands decorated the tables. Even the cake had fresh flowers to tie it all together.

All in all, the celebration was executed on an intimate level but was simultaneously full of love, high energy, and fun. An extra sentimental moment was when Kali's grandpa delivered the evening's prayer as dinner began at the reception. Everyone in attendance could feel the attention and care that Kali and Hayden put into crafting the most memorable wedding day.
