The warm Arizona climate and desert landscape was the perfect spot for Kallie and Nick’s destination wedding which took place at the beautiful The Boulders Resort. Their gorgeous day was a mix of boho meets southwestern with vibrant colors inspired by Arizona's iconic sunsets.
Their care-free day was anything but fussy, and they focused on what was most important to them to make it special from start to finish. Good food, custom cocktails, and watercolor accents make this day memorable, so keep scrolling, and catch every last detail in the full gallery from Rachel Solomon Photography.
From the bride: My husband Nick and I met online. Our first date was to a putt-putt golf course and he proposed almost three years later inside a glowing ice castle in Dillon, Colorado. A zest for adventure is trait we both share, so a destination wedding to Carefree, Arizona felt like the perfect fit for us.
The Boulders Resort holds a special place in my heart as I spent many spring breaks visiting my grandparents at the resort, who have since passed. My grandparents had a passion for the desert landscape, which they instilled in me from an early age. It was important to Nick and I for our guests to feel like they were on a vacation in the heart of the southwestern desert.
We wanted our wedding theme to embrace the beauty of the southwestern desert with sunset colors and bright turquoise accents. Our wedding planner, Sandy Walker, helped our vision come to life with southwestern touches such as terra cotta place settings, longhorn skull pillows and large potted succulents accenting the aisle. My absolute favorite detail was the table centerpieces created by The Flower Studio, which consisted of blooming pincushions and colorful roses nestled in with bright green succulents and cholla braches to compliment the desert landscape that surrounded us.
The reception was kick started with the guest of honor, a sweet eight-year-old burro named Corona, who served our guests drinks as they enjoyed a nacho bar prior to our grand entrance. I may be biased, but the wedding food was perhaps the best I’ve ever eaten. The chef had created the most amazing menu of simple, but flavorful traditional southwestern dishes like chicken enchiladas, green chile, and the famous taco bar.
I will never forget looking out over our reception site on the clubhouse deck at the tall stack of boulders while the sun was setting. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. There are no words to express my gratitude for our wedding planner Sandy Walker, photographer Rachel Solomon, videographer Jeremy White, all of the staff at the Boulder Resort and Spa, and all of the vendors that made our day so amazing. The desert will always be our special place.
