Wedding Welcome
Evin and Ryan's wedding at the Magnolia Carriage house was a refreshing reminder of the charm Charleston is famed for. The newlyweds from New York showed their guests what Southern Hospitality is all about by welcoming them with a bubbly surprise of Prosecco + Pops as they arrived at the ceremony site under the properties oldest and most majestic oak tree.
One of our favorite parts of the day was the surprise visit made by a peacock as the bride and groom were taking pictures with their family and bridal party. While the peacock was trying to show off its colors, gazes were fixated at Evin and her dress; she looked stunning.
From the Bride: My husband would say that his favorite part of the day was the first look and having that moment between just us two before the wedding began.
The Ceremony
My Fiance is from NYC and I'm from NC, we really wanted something that was a perfect blend of us both. I feel like Magnolia Plantation set the perfect scene for all of our NYC guests to be charmed by all of the things that I grew up thinking of as home- the Sweeping moss, the wild peacocks roaming the lawn, the perfect row of oaks leading to a beautiful historic home, the sound of the Ashley River in the background as opposed to car honks and sirens.
On the other hand, my friends from Carolina were exposed to new traditions and things they have never seen done before at a typical southern wedding, Popsicles in champagne glasses, Hanging magnolia leaves as table assignments, new twists on the otherwise "traditional" southern dishes like fried okra croutons. The feeling of looking back and knowing how different our upbringing and families were but seeing everyone having the time of their life and sharing in that perfect day that representing both of us so well made for our perfect Southern Wedding.
The Reception
The green leaf escort cards and champagne tower were signature pieces of the cocktail hour, and the wagon wheel chandeliers of the reception that were covered in foliage and dripping white florals gave the rustic venue an elegant and romantic glow. Aligned with these chandeliers was Evin and Ryan's sweetheart table, which featured a garland rich of blush and white florals that hung to the floor on both sides of the table and overlooked the dance floor.
When I first saw the venue I knew that there was no need to compete with perfection. I wanted to compliment what already naturally existed and bring the magic that existed outside indoors.
The Inspiration + Advice
I've never been a vivid color person and to be honest none of my friends would consider me a "pink kind of girl" but that quickly changed as I became a bride. Everything I loved in pictures or was naturally drawn to were blush and champagne. I think it gives things such a timeless but lux look.
Luckily the team at Petalosa specialized in exactly what I wanted, flowers that look like they were "Sprawling" and alive instead of fixed and formed. I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out especially the arrangement across our sweetheart table.
I had some amazing advice from my makeup artist to, at some point that day stop and really soak in everything that you have done. That moment for me was right after our first dance when I sat down to eat and really got a chance to breathe and take it all in.
