Classic and elegant, Edgar + Lauren hosted a chic fall wine country wedding at the picturesque Foley Sonoma in California. The bride’s unique vision for her special day was truly one-of-a-kind and was reflective of her own design aesthetic and their combined personality as a couple.
Deep blue hues, greenery, and texture play together beautifully against the picturesque outdoor setting. The bride wore a classic, timeless gown while her bridesmaids looked chic in shades of blue dresses. Trust us, you won’t want to miss the full gallery with this one! From the bride: I've always envisioned myself in a classic, simple, yet sophisticated gown. I am a very pragmatic person, and I constantly think about what is going to look timeless in the next fifty years. I kept thinking, if years from now while looking back at our photos, I would still want to see my photos of me in my dress and still feel that it has transcended decades, trends and time. I went with my mom and my cousin and we ultimately found the dress at Panache Bridal Salon in Pasadena. I must have tried on about five dresses before this one -- when I stepped into this dress, I immediately knew it was for me -- I just felt like myself in it. When I walked out, my cousin got immediately emotional and that was how I knew!
We started planning our wedding halfway around the world, while on vacation in South Korea, right after we had gotten engaged. But from the get-go, we've always known that we wanted to throw a destination wedding -- as a couple, we've always had the most fun attending them. My entire family is from the east coast (Edgar's family is from Los Angeles), so no matter what, both of our sides would have had to travel somewhere. We combined our love for travel and our love for really good food and wine and thought that Sonoma would be the perfect fit. To us, it was far, but still close enough that we could take day trips if we needed to for planning purposes. Edgar and I have must have visited eight different wineries and venues before we decided on Foley Sonoma. Just everything about that setup felt perfect to us, and I'm grateful to that team there because they were able to also connect us to amazing vendors.
From the beginning, I've always wanted to go against the grain. I really wanted it to be personal, "different", intimate, intentional and unexpected both literally and figuratively. We've been to many weddings that we already had clear-cut decisions and visions about mostly everything. I am an Interior Designer, so figuring out our wedding style was very reflective of my own design aesthetic and also our personality as a couple. I tried to mix a bit of color, a lot of texture, and unexpected elements (different bridesmaids dresses, green centerpieces!). I learned that our style had started to become successful when our lovely florist, Julie Stevens, and planner (Jordan Libby from L'Relyea Events) were so excited during our mockup day (we had a table set up at Encore Rentals with our linen and chair choice, as well as the flowers and centerpieces). That day had to be one of my favorite days when it came to styling and planning our wedding. It was then when I felt like our vision really came to life. A lot of my motif had been spun off a dark blue color scheme, but I had always known that we wanted a greener and a more natural palette for our florals.
