Karly and Scott met at Trinity College in Connecticut when they were both awarded “Bantam of the Week”, a spotlight award for the top athletes. The two fell for each other and started their journey in life moving across the country, finally landing in San Francisco post-grad. Their courageous move thousands of miles from home brought them closer to one another, leaning on their relationship that grew stronger each day. Once Scott proposed, the wedding planning started in full swing. They decided that the St. Francis Yacht Club was perfect, as they often visit Chrissy Beach which is just adjacent to the property. They felt it was symbolic of their love story and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge from their reception would be a beautiful backdrop for their East Coast guests to enjoy.
We wanted a fresh, young, modern take on a classy yacht club. We avoided the “banquet” style dinner and made it feel like a whimsical San Franciscan design with lots of color and individuality. We were inspired by the breathtaking sunset views that the venue faces and based our colors on a bright sunset palette. Every aspect of the design was hand-picked to complement one another, from the bright and bold signage to the gradient napkin colors at each table. It brought a fresh approach to the space.
Both the bride and groom opted for classic looks, with him in a white dinner jacket and black tie and her in a crisp A-line gown with a plunging neckline. We love that her gown had a modern twist with beautiful 3-D floral embroidery on the illusion back and on the train.
The bridesmaids' dresses were bright and colorful, complemented by white bouquets, while the bride had a white dress and a colorful bouquet by The Blonde Bouquet.
The only thing we love more than a citrus color palette is when the florist uses actual fruit in the arrangements. Pomegranates, limes, lemons, and grapefruits mixed with brightly colored flowers to create some truly unique centerpieces for this reception.
To keep with the beachy theme, the couple had guests sign a surfboard instead of a traditional guest book! How cool!?!
The dancing portion of the reception was a big hit with Golden Bell, a live fusion band. The crowd of all ages danced the night away next to the beautiful San Francisco Bay.
These tiny little cakes are becoming more and more popular. This couple opted for a petite white cake with their wedding slogan on it, just for the two of them to cut.
