Jody and Jenna's backyard wedding was filled with vintage touches - a handmade seating area, an espresso bar and a variety of tasty-looking homemade desserts. Besides all the family and friends who gathered to see these two wed, they also something quite unique a their wedding - two wedding photographers. A film photographer and digital photographer. The digital images are coming up next. First up we have Rebecca Siewert Photography. You can see more of Rebbeca's work in the full gallery here.
Such a treat to see two perspectives from two different artists, and how they captured the same day. That being said, it is really quite funny to say film vs. digital when choosing your wedding photographer, it is like comparing water colors and pastels. Both totally different mediums, but both can produce beautiful pieces of art. When deciding on your photographer, go with whose images you personally connect with and whose style you love. Whether they shoot film or digital, at the end of the day go with the photographer's work that you would not mind living with on your wall for years to come. Read on to hear more about film wedding photography.
Is a film photographer more money?
The answer is - maybe or maybe not. It totally depends on the photographer. We are sure that isn't the answer you are looking for, and below is an extremely brief explanation of why. Again the answer is they are are both different mediums, and require an insane amount of work. So .... go with the wedding photographer's images that speak to you.
A film photographer does have to pay for all the film for your wedding, and they also have to pay for it to be processed and scanned. This can get quite pricey - they do not take them to walgreens to do this. They are high end photo labs specifically designed to scan the images. Generally - then the photographer gets the images and goes through each one, just as a digital photographer does. So, the out of pocket expense expense for each and every wedding is a bit more.
On the flip side of this - digital equipment tends to be a bit more pricer, and requires constant updating. While a film camera tends to last a bit longer. For example, if you own an iphone, you know that digital equipment changes quite rapidly and requires constant updating - and it's just a phone! Imagine the updating of professional camera equipment. A digital photographer also has to go through each image as well, in order to get optimal results. Sometimes spending a bit more time getting that image just right.
From The bride and groom on their wedding day -From the groom... My whole day was filled with excitement and laughter yet I had a constant anticipation to marry my bride Jenna. I never lost sight of the relaxed nature of our day and enjoyed every moment to the fullest. I was so thrilled to have at my side my 'Groom Dudes'. My two younger brothers Sean & Kevin and Best Man, my dearest friend of twenty years...Tom.
For me the photos & video session was such a blast, the creative energy was flowing and I could have done that for days. It was so incredible to be on the flip side of the camera and have my friends around me create magic that I was so proud to be apart of. The moment I will hold dearest to me on my wedding day was after when Jenna and I were pronounced husband and wife, we walked back through the aisle of our friends and family cheering us on, I grabbed her for one more kiss and in that moment, it was just us.
From the bride.... Our wedding day was a perfect reflection of us. I loved that. I loved everything from the mismatched china, to the sunset ceremony, to the intimate dessert reception. My favourite part of the day was honestly just being in it . Enjoying what we worked so hard to pull together, spending the day with my new husband and enjoying the incredible people in our lives that helped us pull it together.
