Log off Pinterest. I wish I would have stepped back from Pinterest a bit more than I did. I found myself questioning some of my choices when I thought I found a better idea. Is Pinterest great for getting inspired? Of course. But once you have an idea - run with it and make it your own. At the end of the day, I would not change a thing about how our wedding turned out! It was everything I hoped it would be. Our guests were happy, the food was yummy and our DJ had people on the dance floor until the very last minute.
Get organized. Find a method of planning that works for you and stick to it! You're going to end up with contracts and menus and samples (oh my!) galore so being prepared will save you tons of time. I used a pretty folder with lots of tabs and inserts so when I was looking for something, I knew exactly where to find it. Remember what the day is really about. What matters most is that your sweetheart is waiting for you at the end of the aisle and your family and friends are surrounding you both. Take the time to thank your parents and in-laws for all the support they've given you and your new hubby during planning.
Leave it to the experts. You can't do it all and you shouldn't expect your bridal party or family to be setting up tables and hanging twinkle lights 2 hours before you're supposed to say, "I Do." We were so lucky to have a coordinator who understood our hopes for the day and she absolutely nailed it. She worked with our vendors on all the little details that would have had my head spinning and set up the timing, coordination and break down. Hiring help was the best decision we made!
