Having a destination wedding in Tuscany

From The Bride: We spontaneously came up with the idea to get married in Tuscany through other wedding pictures taken there. I always knew that I wanted to get married outside and loved the aspect of a free wedding ceremony venue. I also visited Tuscany often and fell in love with the great nature and good food. We had the opportunity to visit different locations and ultimately fell in love with the Pian Filetto.

Advice From The Bride

I wish things had been more relaxed, unfortunately I'm a perfectionist and wanted everything as perfect as possible. My advice is that you should never try to outdo anyone or compare yourself and your wedding to others. Always be faithful to yourself.

We had 35 guests at our day, a small wedding, but it cost about $25,400. Our photographer and the decorations were, in my opinion, the most important aspects of our wedding, and so we spent much of our budget on those. We wanted to make our guests' day just as enjoyable as possible and had the wine tasting organized for them. This was an additional cost, but the guests will remember it forever.

On The Bride's Look And Feel

On my wedding day I woke up in bright sunshine and blue sky. My good friend and hairdresser did my hair. I did my own makeup. I wanted to convey all the feelings of the Italian simplicity and grace. Therefore I decided against a strict hairstyle and veil. In addition, we asked all the guests to come in bright colors (and if they wanted, in the 20s style).

Making a beautiful visual statement was very important. I loved our table decorations but was overwhelmed with how beautiful they turned out. I've always wanted peonies. The Forget-me-nots stand for "something blue" and were my favorite flowers as a child. Nelly from Sti(l)leben not only took the trouble to drive to Tuscany, she and her husband supported us in building our vision and many other things. We are so pleased with the choice of our photographers, no one else could've done a better job with capturing our day.

Favorite wedding moment

The best moment came when my grandfather took me to my husband. I have a very close relationship with my grandparents and I was very touched. Alex had tears in his eyes, I've never seen him like that before. After the ceremony there was a wine and olive oil tasting for guests and then the very delicious food. Later in the evening, a good friend unpacked his guitar and we danced and sang together by candlelight. The cake was baked by my husband's father. It was the greatest day in our life.
