Edie and Bea have been together for over eleven years, so naturally a bit of wedding talk has been swirling around for quite some time. Their special day finally came and not only was it jammed packed with DIY details, but it was truly a big ol’ party that celebrated their love and finally “sealed the deal!”
Read on to hear more from the bride about their crafty brown, pink and gold wedding. As always be sure to check out all the images in the full gallery here. Beautifully captured by Megan Welker Photography with stunning florals from April Flowers.
From The Bride:Being that we had been together for quite a while, I had plenty of time to scour the internet and follow many, many wedding blogs. I knew I wanted do lots of DIY to add our own personal touch and that we wanted it to be a mix of vintage and earthy with a touch sparkle. When I found the Dana Powers House, I knew I had to look no further as it was exactly what I had dreamt up in my head. The venue is home to the property’s owner, Judi Powers, so it had the perfect “home” feel to it and the chandelier full barn added the rustic glam twist that we wanted.
Our family and friends were essential to pulling off our dream day. From crafting just about every detail to addressing invites, or baking desserts for our dessert bar, our wedding would have not been what it was without them! I never knew how much cutting, ribbon tying and glitter-ing it would take, but boy did we find out! Etsy also became my go to website to purchase supplies and items to add to our homemade feel. Pinterest was also a huge source of inspiration!
After selecting our venue, everything quickly came together thanks to our great team of vendors. Judi Powers of the Dana Powers House was a dream to work with. She not only helped with all venue related issues, but she recommended our fabulous florist, April Peet of April Flowers and our delicious caterer, McGee’s catering. All were so accommodating and took our ideas and suggestions to another level of expectation. I also have crazy talented friends that work in the wedding industry which led to the fabulous Megan Welker as our wedding photographer, Lauren Partida of By Lauren for hair and make-up and Steve Cortez on the turntables as DJ Tez. All not only professionals, but lucky for me, friends as well!
Despite the weather not cooperating with some of our plans and the rain causing us make last minute changes, it was truly the best day of our lives. By the time we had our first look, which by far was the best decision we ever made, our nerves and worries were out the door. We were able to celebrate our union with everyone we loved and it was the most magical moment to finally marry my most favorite guy. Everyone around us made the day go seamless and we had so much fun. It was definitely worth the wait!
We both loved and enjoyed our wedding so much that there isn't much I would change about it. If there was something I would do differently personally, was to accept more help. I am part of an incredible family and group of amazing friends. Everyone reached out to me and offered their time and help and at times I was too shy to accept or ask again. Because of it, there were some projects that went undone because I simply couldn't do it all myself. So word to the wise, say yes! I promise the people around you genuinely want to help and be there with you every step of the way.
As for budgets, I will say this. We tried very hard to keep our wedding as affordable as possible in the wedding world. We limited our guest list to near and dear and did lots and lots of DIY to help with our budget. We knew we wanted to spend the bulk our budget on our venue, dinner and photography and made that our priority. The wonderful thing about the Dana Powers house is that you are allowed to bring in your own vendors for almost all aspects of the wedding, so finding just the right vendors that understood us and our budget was not only essential but perfect for us to make it as personal as possible.
