Reese and I knew from the moment we got engaged that we wanted a casual, southern wedding in Charleston with our closest family and friends. We chose the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation for it's rustic elegance and scenic backdrop.
I wanted our wedding to feel vintage, unique, and encompass everything we love about Charleston, starting with the food! Cru Catering did an amazing job incorporating all of our favorite foods, including raw oysters displayed in a wooden boat, a shrimp and grits bar and mini fried chicken and waffles. Traditional mint juleps and spiked Arnold Palmers were served in mason jars with gold and blush paper straws.
Our color scheme was warm neutrals - gold, champagne, blush, rose, and peach. Bridesmaids wore different variations of these colors and chose their own dresses to match the vintage theme. My mother-in-law constructed banners made of vintage handkerchiefs that adorned the walls, as well as custom wreaths made of moss, dried flowers and wood, and paper mache L-O-V-E letters (a nod to our hometown of Philadelphia) that sat on the mantle above the fireplace.
We worked with Ooh! Events and Branch Floral Design on the layout of the room, which included wooden farm tables topped with lace doily runners, various mercury glass vases and floral arrangements of peonies, fringe tulips, tea roses and cotton blossoms. Paper lanterns and vines of twinkly lights were strung throughout the ceiling, and spilling bouquets of baby's breath were scattered on the tables. In front of the fireplace we had antique furniture set up to create a gorgeous seating area. As for the invitations and stationary, I created it all myself to truly reflect our personalities and give the wedding a personal touch.
