Okay, yes this wedding day is a beautiful display of elegant blush and gold decor with perfectly paired floral accents. The modern architecture of the Queens Museum paired with some dramatic wedding lighting has us seeing hearts, this is true, but we just wanna talk about how sweetly in love Micaela and Patrick are! OMG, from the super cute wedding party photo session to the choreographed groomsmen dance at the reception we cannot get enough! And wait until you see how they met!

Floating. I felt like I was floating in a dream, I think its mostly because Patrick and I decided together that the most important part of the day was simply our vows to each other. So nothing else could go wrong when all your focus is on each other, it allows you to center in on the beautiful vibes from the person who has done so much to get you to this takeoff point.
Floating because the whole wedding party from the bridal party to my parent's, sister, aunts, uncles, friends, and the vision crew brought endless energy to the day. But again the day felt right because we didn't plan the ultimate day for anyone but ourselves- it reflected so much of who we are every day: our roots and our expanding NYC personalities. We had Caribbean food from Haiti, Trinidad and Cuba to reflect our West Indian heritage followed by a more modern sit down dinner, we had jazz in our cocktail hour to balance our high energy carnival soca tunes entrance, we had the bustling backdrop of Queens where we met and have lived over the past 7 years to contrast the elegant and more polished presentation of the museum. We are both so multifaceted and I think the day allowed that to show through.
Being able to celebrate in Queens made everything truly reflective of our journey- the church we exchanged vows in was across the street from our first apartment in Jackson Heights, and the museum and flushing meadows park were locations we'd spent quite a few wandering weekend dates. We felt at home all day because as I said the focus was on each other in the actual borough that laid the physical foundation for our love story.
And finally, my husband is a showman- What bride gets a choreographed dance including Lion King soundtracks, Coming to America re-enactments and a revamped Chris Brown song featuring my name? My day was always going to be perfect because it was a celebration of all the good moments, people and love that brought us to the altar. I keep stopping people from telling me their perspective of our day because it's so right in my mind and I'm still floating and don't want anything to change the memory I have.
Vision Event Co. allowed the day to run smoothly. Like any wedding, there will be hiccups but we learned about them only weeks after. The true star was Daniella who foresaw all the avoidable hiccups and lined out exactly what we needed to plan for them. Unlike other wedding planners, she blends into your vision and wants to achieve your special day which is probably why we felt our vision was captured. Her team did everything and had everything bag from on point bowtie skills to scissors, tap...they are the perfect behind the scenes team to carry out the vision for your special day.
Our style was simple, we knew the decor could never compete with the striking architecture of the museum. Lights were our friend and truly transformed the cocktail hour. The Queens panorama was a striking transition into the reception, and we stayed simple with tall minimalist flowers from NYC flower project to complement the broad and elegant lines of the permanent light installment in the center of the space. We lucked out in that the rotating museum installment behind our sweetheart fit with our regal theme.
Day 1 of being a real doctor. Well, in reality, it was day 1 of orientation. But if you know me, you know I was in the front row. I was so focused on the lectures that I never looked over at the person who had joined me in the front.
I knew the person next to me was trying to start a conversation but the seriousness of beginning actual doctoring had all my attention. It came time to stand and introduce ourselves to the auditorium. I stood up, said my name, and before I could sit down I heard the person next to me projecting his name across the room: Patrick MY LORD. He had turned to face the whole auditorium and I could feel so much energy directed towards me. I knew the one person he wanted to remember his name was me...
I remember it like it was yesterday! Orientation Day 1...
We were in this large auditorium attending a welcome lecture. I was in the back of the room looking for a seat, when [I swear] all of a sudden the heavens opened up and all I could see was a bright beam of light shining down on this girl with BIG CURLY HAIR IN THE FRONT ROW!
I guess I found my seat :) Hmmm, let's see if I can distract her long enough & make her laugh during this lecture...
