From the bride: We chose The Pavilion at Sunken Meadow in Kings Park, NY after falling in love with its location on the boardwalk overlooking the Long Island Sound. We were able to have a relaxed beach ceremony, along with a jazzy cocktail hour on the boardwalk and a more traditional reception only steps away.
We had put a lot of thought into making the ceremony uniquely us, selecting readings from A Farewell to Arms and The Alchemist to reflect the love we share and our journey together so far. We're both avid readers and those were the first two books we ever lent to each other.
Our flowers from The Rose City added so much to the day - they were, as my photographer happily exclaimed, "everything." We had asked our florist to use peonies, billy balls, and lots of flowing greens as a starting point, and she went so above and beyond with the details. Surprising touches of pods, berries, and mint made everything look and smell like it was freshly picked from a garden.
I'm a graphic designer and I paint in my spare time, so I designed the invitations, ceremony cards, menus, and table cards, and painted the wood signs, cake toppers, and ring box. My mom printed and trimmed hundreds of ceremony cards and menus, and she wrote out all the place cards - I couldn't have done it all without her!
