Bride and groom embrace in a blooming garden

As we patiently await sunnier days, Steven and Kate's wedding gives us a glimmer of  hope that warmer weather, spring flowers, and buzzing bees are just around the corner.
You will truly swoon over all the romantic and lovely details at their Green Villa Barn Oregon wedding; Infused with links from the past that will warm your heart. Like how Kate and her bridesmaid got ready at her Grandmother's house. Where in the same exact location, almost 41 years ago to the day Kate's parents were married. Read on to hear more from Kate, and be sure to see all the images captured by one of our favorite wedding photographers Erich McVey.

From the bride:Having Erich photograph the ladies getting ready at my grandmother’s house will forever be one of my favorite memories of the day. I am a sucker for nostalgia, and her house has always been magical in my eyes. My parents got married in the front courtyard of her house almost 41years to the day we were there getting ready. Erich was also able to take pictures of my accessories on my grandmother’s paintings and my dress on the same settee where my parents sat for their wedding pictures.

Happy couple embracing on their wedding day

Steven and I had been together for 6 years and known each other since we were 11 (when I was taller than him!) at the time we got engaged so we were happy to wait another year and a half to plan an amazing wedding that celebrated the joy and love we have shared for so many years.

We first agreed that we wanted this to be a family affair. Both my mother and grandmother are a big source of my inspiration and I knew that I wanted to plan and create this wedding with their creative design and spirit. My grandmother is an impressionist oil painter and I envisioned my wedding like one of her floral pieces: colorful, soft, textured, and glowing.

If your wedding is in the summer, it is exponentially important to have beverages out for guests before the ceremony. Having a hydrated guests makes for a happy guest. Plain water or fancy water with fresh fruit, lemonade, limeade or ice tea. The options are endless on how to get creative with your beverage table. We love the simply stylish lemonade stand put together by Classic Traditions Catering.

After choosing Green Villa Barn as our venue and knowing that the garden space would be lush with color for our ceremony, I wanted to do something incredible and unique with the inside of the barn as well. The idea of adorning the ceiling with a tent of tissue paper pom poms along side the strings of lights seemed like the perfect dramatic element for our reception space.

Friends, family, and strangers came together to make and string over 500 pom poms, although most of the credit goes to my mom! The result was better than I could have ever imagined. I also wanted a personal touch on as many things as possible, so several other elements were DIY. We made the decorative signs, place cards, programs, and guestbook by hand as well.

A dream come true was to have my mother and grandmother do our floral arrangements. All three of us share a similar design style and my grandmother was a professional florist so I trusted them completely with executing my vision. We were even able to use some vintage pieces from my grandmother’s floral shop from the 1950s. When I saw the barn and garden decorated with the flowers my breath was taken away.
