After 12 years of dating, Jessica + Tony tied the knot in their own unique fashion at the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove and Sonesta Coconut Grove in their hometown of Miami, FL. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, their magical day was a true labor of love and definitely worth the wait!
From the stunning jewel toned florals to their very own sky high pizza cake, we can’t get over just how perfect it all turned out. Oh and did we mention the groom, Tony plays professional baseball? Keep an eye out for all the baseball "nods" below! Plus find more beautiful details when you visit the full gallery here, captured by the talented Todd Good Photography.
Tony and I were married on a beautiful sunny day in the heart of our hometown, Miami! It was the epitome of what I envisioned our wedding to be: a magical, intimate day surrounded by our closest friends and family. As high school sweethearts, we had been dreaming of the day for quite some time, and with an engagement of over two years (total procrastinators here!) we had plenty of time to prepare. Thankfully, with the help of our amazing planner, Aviva Samuels of Kiss The Planner, all of our wedding wishes came true.
Tony and I had our first look a few hours before the ceremony. Initially, the two of us were vehemently against a first look, but after a few conversations with our awesome photographer, Todd Good, we decided to give it a go and I am certainly glad we did. Not only was it an exciting and emotional moment, but we got some amazing pictures and I was finally able to relax (and breathe!) once I saw him.
Shortly afterward, the wedding we had been working on (for what seemed like centuries) began. I was so nervous about all the little details coming together, but they did, and perfectly! The ceremony was intimate and beautiful. The highlight was our vows, and of course, the first kiss! Afterwards, the guests enjoyed cocktails outside on the front lawn, while Veronica from Anthology Co. transformed the ceremony area into and elegant and romantic dinner reception space.
It was most important to us that our wedding felt warm and personal. We wanted our big day to feel like a celebration of us and our love, not just another party. With that in mind, we tried to incorporate personal touches into every aspect of the wedding and truly make it OUR wedding (without becoming too cheesy). Between Aviva’s eye for design, and my craftiness and creativity (I have an Etsy shop!) we made it happen. From our choice of officiant (who was my best friend’s dad), to our table numbers (a picture for each of the thirteen years we’ve been together), we started to share our personal story with our guests.
Since Tony plays professional baseball, we had to have a few "nods" to our life in the world of baseball. Instead of escort cards, we used mini baseball bat key chains, the beverage napkins had baseball references with quotes like "Game Over" and "Fits like a Glove", and of course we had Cracker Jack Boxes available with the desserts after dinner. We even had guests leave their "autograph" on authentic Major League bats that we will keep forever. As foodies, it was important to us that our guest not go hungry, and Diego Suarez from Bill Hansen Catering did not disappoint. Dinner was delicious and the service was fantastic! My favorite part was our cake! Tony and I love pizza and aren’t huge fans of cake, so we surprised our guests with Pizza Cake (yes, I said pizza cake!). It was saucy and delicious and what pizza dreams are made of.
