A 600 mile gap kept these two love birds apart for four out of the five years they were together. So, you can only imagine that Coy and Katey's wedding was a much anticipated event. They would finally be able to come together and live their happily ever after.
All this wedding magic was captured by Justin Battenfield at The Willows Inn, an Oklahoma Wedding Venue that has a definite backyard vibe. This open space is a blank canvas just waiting to be filled up and personalized. Katey, who was an Art major handmade everything you see at this wedding. From the white ceramic vases that were on each
table to the Mr. and Mrs. signs that she wove on a loom. Talk about crafty. To see more details and handmade decor visit the full gallery here.
Most of the decorations were either handmade, borrowed, or purchased from thrift stores. We also adore that the bride and her grandma made all of the grape jelly together, and the bride's mom, groom's mom, and bride did all the other craft projects together for the wedding. Making it truly a family affair. So sweet ... don't you think?
The church pews we're brought in from Katey's favorite church camp that she attended as a child. Besides being sentimental, they also look fantastic outside in front of the white doors that open up, making a grand entrance for the bride. We are not sure what we love about doors that are outside for weddings, but they really are so much fun.
Coy, the groom, was a wheat farmer, which is why there is so much wheat in the flowers and the throwing of wheat as the couple exited. He even took Katey to prom their senior year in a big wheat tractor. Thus the meaning behind all the wheat used at the wedding.
It is actually traditional that when a farmer gets
married the guests throw wheat as the bride and groom leave the wedding.
All of the wheat used in the wedding was given by the groom's parents.
