We are off to St.Simon's Island in Georgia to celebrate Lydia and Alex's aqua and yellow backyard wedding. Although a relaxed affair, the entire event was thoroughly planned out and filled with on-trend wedding details. Think: cotton with mercury glass, toss in some lemons to keep it fresh, add a little aqua blue-green to offset the yellow. Pair it with two vintage wedding dresses, and some hip and happening aqua shoes and you have one heck of a wedding.
You must read on for more wedding details from the bride, and as always you need to see more wedding details in full gallery by clicking here. Especially Lydia and Alex's sunrise first look. A must see! All magnificently photographed by Amy Arrington Photography
From The Bride:My wedding dresses were from two different vintage stores. Over the 8 months we were engaged I actually bought four wedding dresses! I kept finding them at various vintage clothing stores and they were always cheap enough to buy now and just decide later. I ended up picking two of them, spending a combined $70.
Finding bridesmaid dresses in the same fabric can sometimes be tricky. Alfred Sung, Dessy Group makes several different styles in the same fabric and color. They even have matching ties for the groom and his men. So your entire wedding party looks cohesive and utterly stylish.
Amy Arrington PhotographyOne of my favorite details was the story of Lydia's engagement ring that was fashioned out of a diamond earring. Alex's grandmother had a pair of diamond earrings. She gave one diamond earring to each of her two grandsons so that they could make an engagement ring out of the stone. Love it!
We love Lydia's and Alex's silhouette fans. If you want to do something similar you can download your Free Silhouette Monogram here. Choose your color and initials and voila you have your own unique monogram to use as your own.
On The MusicWe didn't have a DJ, but instead put the songs on an iPod and had the best man emcee. This was budget friendly and adhered to our commitment of making the event feel very casual. Alex and I's first dance was "The Nearness of You" by Norah Jones. My father and I danced to "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra. Alex and his mama danced to "How Sweet It Is" by Marvin Gaye. All under the grand, spanish-moss-filled, oak trees of his backyard. Gorgeous!
