Tucked between Sicily and the North African coast lies the picturesque island of Malta. If you’ve never heard of Malta before, you’re not alone! But this tiny island was the stunning location for Matthew & Ludovica’s destination wedding that you’re about to see!
With the help of Chiara Sciuto, the bride's vision of a rose gold wedding came together flawlessly with greenery accents, a cute flower bar, and family-style dining. See it all below, and when you’re ready for more check out the full gallery photographed by Rossini Photography.
From the bride: We chose Malta for our wedding because Matthew is originally from there, and it’s part of who he is. After we met, Matthew would often speak about his homeland and I really thought that our first trip together would be to Malta. Instead, to my great surprise, he invited me to Zermatt, Switzerland. I, who hate the cold, and skiing is not exactly my favorite sport, kept dreaming of Malta and its sea. I had to wait a whole year to finally be invited to Matthew’s beloved Malta for Christmas.
Matt always said that if I could not love Malta, I could not love him. Now I can truly say that I fell thoroughly in love with Malta! Immediately after, we started planning our wedding day in Malta. Form the start, I never had a single doubt which wedding planner I would hire to make my dreams come to life: Chiara Sciuto. I had recently attended a wedding planned by Chiara, where I could see how much creativity and attention to every last detail Chiara puts into her work.
When I met Chiara in her office in the center of Rome, she conquered me straight away with some amazing ideas for my wedding. From that day we started planning everything together. For the color palette, I personally love rose gold, and Chiara suggested to mix it with greenery such as cactus and succulents, which was particularly unconventional. Because of this original juxtaposition, I am still receiving compliments from my guests!
Another really important aspect to me was photography: Chiara suggested a handful of top photographers she works with, and as soon as I saw their portfolio, I knew I wanted Rossini Photography for my wedding. Their style is exactly what I had always envisioned: contemporary, soft, and elegant but never boring or formal. Finally, I wanted to infuse my wedding with come characteristic elements from the island of Malta, so we decided that the entire bridal party, followed by the bride alone, would reach the ceremony riding a fleet of the typical colorful boats used in Malta…I think I definitely made a memorable entrance!
