If you could distill elegance down into a wedding weekend, that weekend being pleasingly graceful and stylish in both appearance and manner, that wedding weekend would be that of Victoria and Tom's Irish Borris House wedding. Not only did this whole weekend take place on the premises of a castle in Ireland, but each guest was treated to such warm and welcoming hospitality that they might have thought they had unwittingly slipped into the pages of a Jane Austen novel. The Bride hand delivered handmade breakfast hampers... trust us when we say, you will want to keep reading.
And once you are done with this post, we have even more for you to fall in love with in our full gallery. Plenty more photos and fabulous moments captured by Katie Kav Photography. Cheers, and enjoy!
The theme of our wedding was very much ‘Big Party!’ We felt like we were coming to the wedding game a little later than a lot of our friends and therefore we wanted people to shake off all their responsibilities and bring their dancing shoes. We made sure it was a party vibe for the whole weekend.
Tom wanted a castle-esque vibe, Victoria more of a country house feel and Borris House gave us the best of both. As they were getting married in late September they took a punt on the Irish weather. Victoria wanted it to have late summer vibes and so a palette of blush, navy and light greys allowed this with a shimmer of gold throughout to play on the lower sun and change of season.
They had a wonderful priest who allowed them to create a very personal service and so had their guests – religious and not – perform roles throughout that fit them perfectly. Playlists were created with the string quartet, band and DJ and the couple made sure the soundtrack to the weekend didn’t stop with speakers adding to the atmosphere away from the Borris ballroom.
This is where the bride and groom went wild. With an insane eye for detail, Victoria and Tom chose Borris House because it gave them the freedom to plan absolutely everything. From signature cocktails designed by the couple and ingredients grown in their garden for cocktail & canapé hour, speeches in the drawing room for a laid back vibe before dinner, a wedding feast curated and paired with an individual drink to complement each course to the bucking of traditional teas and coffees for an Espresso Martini Bar to end the meal; this was only the beginning of the detail. And just when you thought they’d considered everything, you noticed the drinks straws were also on palette!
The couple chose suppliers who really let their ideas and vision shine through and it didn’t stop for the whole weekend. Each guest was greeted with personalized drinks that matched the bridal color palette and handwritten welcome notes in their B&Bs and hotels on arrival. Those guests who stayed in the grounds of Borris House had breakfast hampers created and delivered by the bride and her Dad which included a selection of homemade breads, cupcakes, jams and marmalades made by the Mother of the Bride. The bride took great delight in creating hand stamped tags for everything and where stationery was required, it all followed the theme and consistency of the day.
