From the Bride: Take. Things. Slowly. Don't get bullied into planning too fast! Plan slowly and figure out where you WANT to spend money- it's so easy and tempting to rush decisions and forget budgets. We planned for just under 2 years - all that time meant that we were able to save money and splurge on what was most important to us.
If you are on a budget buy local! Also search out new or small businesses first. The smaller businesses were also MUCH more flexible and even offered discounts since our wedding was so far in the future. DIY - It's a no brainer if you are looking to cut costs - but only take on what you can manage and PRACTICE. If you do decide to DIY - don't do your manicure until all the crafting is over!
