Kevin might have jumped the gun a bit when he proposed to Caroline at age 7 but you can't help the way you feel. This sweet couple stayed friends and spent their childhoods and adolescence traveling with their families and learning about one another. That translated beautifully to their wedding day several years after graduating college.
How might you celebrate 20 years of a relationship on your wedding day? Keep scrolling to find some beautiful and very cute ideas. We love their wall of photos. Speaking of photos, there are plenty more of this lovely event in the full gallery taken by the talented Amy & Jordan.
Kevin asked Caroline to be his girlfriend. On the school bus. IN SECOND GRADE! Sweet seven-year-old Caroline didn’t waste time answering… “No way.” Kevin spent the rest of the bus ride feeling crushed but recovered by recess. They went back to being best friends.
They spent the rest of their childhood building forts together in the woods that separated their backyards. Sledding on snow days, playing together in a land of make-believe, celebrating birthdays and taking family vacations together. Even when his family moved across the country in 7th grade, they continued to be best friends. Their families traveled together. They continued to grow up exploring the world together. Their whole relationship was one of adventure.
Finally, two years after they graduated from college, he asked her that same question from second grade one more time. Spoiler alert: this time, she didn’t say no 🙂
Marrying your best friend. What could be better? It’s been twenty years since Caroline answered Kevin on the school bus. But, this time, in front of their family and friends, standing at the altar together, she gave her most important “yes.”
We loved every minute of their Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North wedding. Caroline and Kevin tied in so many sweet aspects of their love story throughout the day, like Caroline’s letter to Kevin written on lined, ruled, school notebook paper, tucked inside their second grade yearbook. Maybe our favorite was an epic photo wall documenting all TWENTY YEARS of their friendship! It was such a beautiful day from start to finish. With the help of an incredible creative team led by Kayla from Some Like It Classic and Sarah with Sarah’s Garden, the Four Seasons lawn was transformed into a gorgeous dinner party under the stars, capped off with a magical sparkler ending for the most fairytale of days.
