There's something so simply sweet about this wedding, we can't seem to get enough! Nature played a big part in making the day beautiful, not to mention the stunning couple, and pushing against wedding norms made the day fun and cheerful.
We hope this wedding inspires you to break whatever wedding rules you please, and maybe you too will have a wedding off the beaten path! Get even more ideas from the full gallery here, photographed by Love Is A Big Deal.
Some of my favorite parts of our wedding were the quirky details that didn't fall along the lines of “traditional” wedding style. We served chicken and waffles and crab cakes and old-bay waffles (a Maryland take on the normal C and W) for dinner, my girls wore off the shoulder and low-back/side cut-out dresses with a pattern print, and we were married in the woods standing on top of the rug that I grew up dancing and playing on in the living room with my sisters- as our family and friends watched sitting on beautiful cedar log benches.
One of my favorite personal touches occurred during the ceremony… we (bride and groom) poured liquid into two vintage glasses that were set up near our macrame altar and none of our guests knew what it was that we were pouring. The ceremony continued on and after our first kiss, the Pastor announced, “And now Brandon and Rudy will begin their marriage the way they began their relationship… with a shot of tequila!” I’ll never forget the laughter and cheer in the air as we took our shots and then headed down the aisle as husband and wife.
My advice to future brides that are in the planning process is to make the day your own! Your wedding day is about your love and commitment to each other, and what better way to celebrate that than putting your own style into it. If you want to wear a red lip, red shoes, and red nails despite the advice from friends or family not to… do it! Also, try your best to step back and soak up every ounce of the day like a sponge. Oh, and make Etsy, spreadsheets, and check lists your best friend.
