Planning your wedding on the longest day of the year is a pretty great idea and for so. many. reasons. But this fantastic day took advantage of the extra daylight with a two-day celebration for their oh-so-fun festival inspired Greek Orthodox wedding in Maryland.
Tara, the bride DIY’ed many of the details to bring her vision to life, which included adding string pearls to her dress, mushrooms in her bouquet and decor, and a chic bohemian teepee lounge for guests and photos. It’s totally fun and unique down to the bone, so be sure to visit the full gallery for a closer look at their two-day celebration captured by xoxo, molly jane.
From xoxo, molly jane: This wedding was super fun and unique. It was a two day greek wedding (the groom is Greek!) that kicked off day one with the more formal Greek ceremony that took place at a Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City, MD. The first day of the wedding was also on June 21st which is the first day of Summer. So bride Tara called her wedding the "Summer Solstice" and through the images you will see a fun tambourine that has that printed on it. Day two of the wedding was a more relaxed event with close family and friends where the bride wore her grandmothers vintage bohemian dress from the 60s complete with a fun colored flower crown and floral anklet to match.
This wedding was jam-packed with so many DIY'ed details by the bride. Tara added the string of pearls that were attached to the back of her dress. All of the vintage dinner plates that were used as place settings were thrifted throughout the course of several years and the linens that were used were from her mother's personal collection. The bride and groom's last name is Kosmas and their wedding hashtag was "let's get kosmic" so the groom wore socks that were space-related with planets on them. Something else that was super unique and cool was that the bride incorporated real mushrooms into her bouquet and into some of the centerpieces too. She also set up a fun bohemian teepee lounge area for guests that we ended up using for some of their photos as well.
Along with their gorgeous cake, the bride had sugar cookies made that fit in with the theme of their wedding but also meant things that were special to them. On the second night of the wedding the Groom's band played for the guests in a more relaxed setting. Something also special about bride tara is she is a burn survivor and proudly bears her scars (can be seen on her arms). As a result of the being a burn survivor she wanted to honor that at her wedding so on night one at the end of the reception she had a fire dancer come and perform that was a hit with all the guests.
