Katie and Rob hosted an intimate afternoon wedding at their home in the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. Katie is a collector of many vintage things, which prepared her well for her wedding. They brought all of these things out of their garage and that day and it all came together.
Katie and Rob's wedding was entirely DIY, from the signs to the native flowers, including her bouquet! A teaspoon of lace wedding ideas are yours for the taking when you peruse the full gallery here, photographed by Jessica Blaine Smith Photography.
On April 19th, they hosted a small group of their nearest and dearest at their home in the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. It was beautiful. In the morning, Rob got ready at the Chenrezig Institute which is a Buddhist Centre. The night before the wedding he slept there, in a bed that the Dali Lama once slept in.
Katie and the girls got ready at the beautiful Secrets on the Lake. Their ceremony was then held at their home and it contained three parts: first an Aboriginal man did a traditional ceremony followed by a civil ceremony and then all of the guests walked to form a sharing circle.
After their beautiful ceremony, I headed off with them in their rented vintage Kombi to do some portraits. When we were finished up with that, we headed back to their home where guests were enjoying tea and some incredible treats on the decks. Shortly after that, we all sat down for lunch at what may be the most beautiful table I had sat at. I loved all of the incredible details that made the day that much more special.
My only advice would be: to be kind to yourself. To be kinder than you know possible. Because after all is said and done and your wedding day is over, it will be the seeds of that self kindness that will blossom and continue to grow the beauty in your life and partnership.
