Part of working with weddings every day is that you get to a point where you think you have seen it all. No one knows this better than our next bride Erika, co-founder of Bloom + Blueprint Events; However, she surprised herself as well as us with once again pulling out a fun and unique event and even coined a new phrase that we know is bound to catch on, Floral Blocking!
To find out more about this fabulous event and what exactly floral blocking is, you'll just have to keep scrolling. There are plenty of great ideas below and even more in the full gallery of photos from Jane Z Photography.
This beautiful Fall wedding planned and designed by Bloom + Blueprint is actually my own! I am the co-founder of B+B, an event planning and design company based in Phoenix, Arizona. After executing hundreds of events over the last several years, it was such a fun and unique experience for our team to pull together a wedding vision for one of our own.
Being in the industry is both a blessing and a curse when it comes to planning your own wedding; you have seen it all and done it all! It was important to Kate, my long time bestie and B+B business partner, and I, that we pull together my more classic style with the unique and fun designs our company is known for! I am a minimalist at heart and wanted that to be reflected in our design and the ease of our day! We landed on a design influenced by diamonds; not the rock on my finger - but the literal shape, after a pull of the Wildflower/La Tavola linen "Arrowhead"! It was that linen that inspired so much of our wedding design. I am inspired by Art Deco design and knew I wanted that be evident in my wedding design without being over done and the typical iteration. We pulled through the diamond throughout the day in various design elements; from our 10 ft floating diamond ceremony structure, to the welcome sign, and from our linen to the ceiling of our cocktail hour/dancing tent ceiling.
I love the beautiful and colorful work we do as a company, but my personal style from my clothing to the decor in my home is much more neutral. As a compromise between Kate and I, we designed my florals to be color blocked and floral blocked from white through the pink spectrum to a deep and gorgeous burgundy wine color. We placed color in strategic places, like my amazing (seriously blown away) bridal bouquet, our ceremony arbor, the sweetheart table, and our cakes. Most of our centerpieces and tablescapes were a mix of Art Deco architectural design with romantic candlelight and neutral coloring in our floral blocked arrangements. The Arrowhead and Velvet Linens from La Tavola really warmed up outside space and pulled the design together. I selected neutrals bridesmaids dresses and allowed the girls to select a style from the Jenny Yoo Luxe Chiffon collection. We paired their dresses with soft and neutral bouquets; each of the 5 bouquets being a different floral type.
One of the best parts of living in Arizona is our amazing weather most of the year! I am from New York and it was important to my husband and I that we utilized the October weather to have an entirely outdoor wedding day. Our reception took place on a large event lawn at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass. Because of the size of the lawn, we decided to split the space using a pipe and drape system to separate our cocktail hour from our dining space. After our guests enjoyed the sunset with drinks in hand, we opened two walkways to reveal our dining space. Once dinner was complete the party moved back under the tent to dance the night away under the diamond install and twinkle lights!
Trumaine and I were engaged for 2.5 years before we walked down the aisle (in my defense I was busy planning other peoples big day). In that time, we started a family and it was absolutely amazing to have our little man participate in our day. He definitely stole the show when he "drove" our rings down the aisle in a remote control Mercedes like true Ring Security. Our wedding day was a magical day that celebrated our love and our little family!
