Gianna was born in Orange County, CA but met Cincinnati-raised Scott when she moved to Ohio. It wasn't long before the couple became true lovers of the outdoors: hiking, camping, kayaking and golfing together. When they got engaged and decided to have their wedding at one of Cincinnati's top wedding venues, The Monastery Event Center, they were excited to bring together a beautiful day. Gianna's mother Marilyn played an integral part in the planning even though she stills lives on the West Coast.
After booking their venue, amazing photographer and floral designer, they decided they would love to have some extra assistance in the form of a wedding planner. They had a certain vision of shades of purple, lush elegance, and a touch of glam, but weren't quite sure how to bring it all together. Talking about it, dreaming about it, and seeing "ideas" on Pinterest weren't exactly easily translated without seeing it in person right? But for Gianna & Scott (AND Marilyn) to let go and trust that their vendors had their backs, things transpired so much better than they could have hoped for. From being unsure about getting velvety lilac linens shipped from Southern California (with a little nudge from their planner) to different kinds of textural blooms in their centerpieces and how the flow of the day would work, them placing their trust in their vendors really let them relax. To this, we say:
One of the sweetest details was their wedding cake. Three tiered buttercream goodness with simple texture, complementary wedding blooms and a gold stand. Sitting atop was a custom laser cut topper with the words "Love You More," something that Gianna & Scott always say to one another.
The wedding venue sits atop Mt. Adams, overlooking downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River. Where it stands used to be the Observatory, but after it was moved in the late 1800s, the Holy Cross Monastery & Chapel was built in its place. After being a church then being run down, it was later transformed and fixed up then opened in 2016 to welcome weddings and events. Many of the details of the walls and ceilings can still be seen today and it makes it a highly popular place to marry in the Tri-State area.
At the end of the reception, Gianna & Scott were sent off with sparklers and surprised with a White Rolls Royce exit car that whisked them away to their honeymoon suite at the Renaissance Hotel Cincinnati. The view coming down the steps flanked by their family and friends was the sweetest farewell for a gorgeous day!
