For the entire week leading up to Katie and Jacob's September wedding, the radar was calling for 90% chance of rain on their wedding day. The morning of their wedding, however, the clouds parted and the weather turned out to be beyond perfect. Katie was such a happy bride - she had the biggest smile on her face the entire day, and guests could honestly feel the love radiating throughout this special occasion.  Keep scrolling to see all of the beautiful photos of this personalized event by Heather Baker Photography. Throughout the whole planning process, Katie and Jacob wanted to make sure every detail reflected their love for one another and their love of family. When Katie was 21 years old, she lost her mom to a battle with breast cancer. Throughout Katie's entire life, her mom had been her rock and best friend. After her passing, Katie needed a fresh start and moved to Delaware in 2015 without knowing a single person or anything about the state, taking her first job as a Cardiac ICU nurse. Little did she know that a few months later, the short interaction with an ER nurse named Jacob would lead to a love story.   A mutual friend of theirs set them up without them even realizing it through many stealthy “friend” dinners and nights out. In 2017, they finally hit it off after Katie became Jacob’s “lucky charm” when it came to fishing. Fast forward to 2019, and Jacob and Katie had their beautiful daughter Hannah, and in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Jacob proposed with all of their family present (in person and through Facetime).

The wedding day at Vanderwende Acres was an absolute DREAM.  Every detail was thoughtful and intentional. Katie had the three most important and influential women in her life help add personal touches to the day. She had her mom's picture with her every step of the way on her bridal bouquet.  She also had her step mom's earring from her wedding day on the bouquet. Additionally, she had a very special blue ring that her grandmother sent to her with a detailed letter explaining its significance to her mom and our family.
